That housing is the 1 the rotor bearing failed so the rotor rattling around. This is the side that the rotor groove is closed up pinching the flattened apex seal in place.....lots of bits fell out when open the housings.

Ho Dear what you going to do now Rebuild It ??

boosted

Not sure....quiet contemplation!
Learn to rebuild it myself or get the block built by a yet undecided specialist with warranty. 2016 i need track time not garage time!
Building 1 is part of the rotary experience maybe not this 1!
Defo want bridgeport back in here though.
Im going in friday for an op once im fixed will crack on again!
Thens theres the rear end live axle...  spent some time under my 8 yesterday staring at the subframe mounts...

Yes, track time would boost up motivation. Time to enjoy your car, now ;)

Before doing bridge you could test ported version...? I think its simpler to do to Renny

But I really think that you should put 8´s rear axle to Westory...

Yeah not sure how im goona go about making the rear independent....lots to consider biggest hurdle is staying with 13" wheels.  Happy to go wider though and get a 4.4 in there. Need rear end grip bigtime....is a handful on the road.

re japi

Oh, you want to keep 13" wheels? That narrows rear options alot, if you are keeping rear brake system from that rear you are swapping to it...
You should test wider tires at some point. I have a feeling that you need wider to front too :) Yes, I bet she is a handful :)

I need to japi....car is lighweight slicks are designed for weight if i went 17s with slicks i would never get the heat in them....kill the accerelation etc....itsca bit of a headache tbh.

Yes, I hate those suspension and balance setup things. :) How about 15'? You could use bigger brakes too. If you go 16', you could use FD's or Beemer parts...

Friends Lada has taught us a lot. Its a pain in butt, just balansing between front and rear grip. If car has good acceleration grip, car usually understeers at corners.

At this point Lada has good overall balanse, but its still too slow off the line. 0,3 seks 0-20mph and 0-60mph slower than last year. And thats too much. Because basically it means that it is slower leaving every corner too...

Another thing we have found out, is purpose of good coilovers. For exaple, Öhlins are really expensive, but for a reason. They are the best. Tire really is on ground doing the job, getting grip...

It may be easier to find a westy independent chassis and transfer everything across! .......

Ok so what "special" tools are required for rebuild? Got access to industrial parts cleaner and 30tonne press . Is an engine stand essential?

Well, dunno if you have inch or millimeter tools... But only special thing you need is that big stupid 55mm socket. Flywheel lock and engine stands not essential. They will help alot tough...

You really do not need a stand.  I do all mine with a big hole in the top of my bench, when I put the intermediate plate in someone can raise the e-shaft slightly from the underside...  If I am on my own I use a bottle jack under the bench to hold the e-shaft up while I get the plate down.  Other than that it is just the right size sockets and a couple of hours spare.
