Hi Guys ive been quiet for abit especially for me.....been jetwashing patios and clearing gutters with quiet comtemplation.
The original brief was  1. Go racing 2. race a rotary. 3 .Be competitive
4. Stay local at Combe.

Due to the co eff applied to a rotary engine car is in top class A and even if it was turbod and super charged and 3 or even 4 rotor'd it would still be class A . So im handicapped b4 i even start.

Ill get straight to the point a 1997cc s2000 engine is class B and 225bhp standard power no fishermans ruler....lol. on a emerald ecu will see 245 bhp.
My current bridge port needs building and modification and thermal bypass pellet. Pressure mod etc and tbh all told prob set me back 2500 with me doing the work.    Which is half way to a full running s2000 conversion.

Im at a crossroads head versus heart guys. I wanna race and win or try my very best. Ive sacrificed my road car and trailer ....need to make a decision.
My loom conversion and spare could be used in another project was planning a 231 fb or mk3 mx5 but in not done with racing yet.
Done a lot of research !

Just sharing thought process .....

Its sounds unfair to limit the rotor to such a degree since quite a few modern engines are lighter and have more power.

All I would say is do alot f research and then do what you think is best. At least you have tried and enjoyed quite a rare setup with the rx8 engine.

Looks outstanding in the videos.

Thanks Shaun it if didnt have a silly 1.7 co eff then id be in Class B and would have a shot at class B champion and maybe gt Champion if overall results better than the other class winners.....welsh sports racing series apply a co eff of 1.4....and considered that....but i wanna try and win on home turf! And actually win something....lots of racers enter each race knowing there laptimes and knowing the result and make no progress race after race....suppose just title of racing driver.
Gutted tbh but been an epic journey and car is frikin fast and finally getting to grips with it....its just the money my lifes savings and aint alot left.....i can copy the factory westfield s2000 set up to ensure reliability from outset and be on the pace as similiar set up .
On a happy note my old colt gti is out of retirement and up n running and booked in for trackday....little david will shock a few he always does...

I found that book abit of hard read.....could not find any mention of rotary engined cars. Ill speak to Castle Combe. Worth a shot then i can stay rotary power. If i gotta spend out i want it to competive....defo need to build a build a car to fit the regs.

BB would say, 1308cc x 1.5=1962cc for race car but rx7 rally car would count as 1308cc. ???

Combe 1.7 Wrda 1.4......seems somebody needs to ask the question. May as well be me.

Most events I've looked at (sprints and autosolos) specify a 1.5 co-eff for the rotary, so allowing competitiion in the 2000cc class, which I think is fair. Deffo worth asking why 1.7

Here's the Javelin Sprint regs, "+50%" for rotary;

I've found the S2000 to be a good match to the RX-8 on track and in autosolo events (in same class there), further reinforcing the case that this is the correct class for the rotary 1.3 engine.

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.
