Oh ok I know what you mean, prying eyes etc :)

Is maybe worth having a thermostat in the system so that the engine oil gets warmed up inside the engine faster etc?

I don't know if the rx8s have them?

boosted

Yes ive got to have a redesign me thinks.

re japi

I wasnt blaming anything either. Just heard that renesis e shafts has big toleranses, like previius e shafts had...

Also I heard that stock oil system is pushed to the limit, so if something doesent work, its instant engine failure then... :/

Jon, I really would like to come and get that blue one. Unfortunatly, Im broke at the moment... :(

Did you say you have an oil temp gauge or an oil pressure gauge? I have noticed the rx8 oil pressure sensor is basically a switch, it tells you you have pressure but not exactly how much!!

boosted

Both oil press and temp...all done by digi dash.

Gotta be honest guys....this is nearly breaking me... it aint the money i stopped counting at 10k....its the time im just spending so much time eves weekends in the garage. Although my wife supports my desire to race i know im neglecting her ive been doing lots of fact finding and in weigh up phase atmo.  Its like a drug sucking at the bossom of speed but ive put so much time and money into this the resentment is starting to creep in. Garage is strewn with parts again. Soz for that needed to share!

Been there done that; sold the car before I finished it. Bought a road car to just have fun driving again. Get the spare engine in it and enjoy it.

boosted

Yeah Grant....just sat down. Been in the garage looks like rotor bomb gone off. Looks to me like rotor and e shaft fubar but housings etc all ok....needed my mate Donk to assist with front bolt......gotta make a decision.

re japi

"Thats motorsports"....

Unfortunatly that is true. Racing really takes everything out of man. And usually womans dont understand that ;)

Take a few off garage days. Ride your 8´s. When you are ready and fresh, go back to work on Westory.

This is one reason why I'm not spending loads of money on my rx8 straight away. I don't want to be out of pocket for something that I can't use all the time.

I will be doing tyres first, then spacers then arbs and then springs.

That will be it and I will enjoy when I can rather than working on it

boosted

Right i have formulated a plan....
1 spare engine is going in....and run that around a track day on 888 not slicks to limit surge.
2 i can fit a mocal oil thermostat to current oil system so i dont have to rip car apart to swap in rx8 1s
3. Housing n plates in boot and let Clive have a ganders at them to tell me there ok. ....or not.
4. Rebuild my own engine slowly but surely.
If that goes bang  fit a zetec or s2000 engine eeekk! Lol.
With Japfest etc not gonna touch it til next weekend so i nice break from.

Yeah that 1 tab that holds rotor bearing in rotor is concerning....looks simple to mill an identical slot in other side and have 2.  Or 3 at 120deg apart. So 3 times less chance of spinning....is that ok Clive for you to cast your eye other my housings and plates if i stick em in the boot?
