Air Pump

The normal double 90 intake has the 2 90 degree bends coming out of the turbo, then a bunch of pipes join it:

Biggest is the recirc air from the recirc valve
Then there is a crank case emissions feed through a small one way check valve
Then there is a small air bleed hose, I think that comes from the stock boost solenoid

So if you\'ve replaced the recirc with a blow off the largest hose can be eliminated, and if you\'ve got a boost controller and after market boost solenoid or valve, then the stock plumbing has probably gone too. This is good news - it means only the crank case emissions and it\'s silver one way valve need to be fed back into the air intake.

So what you need to end up with:

a 45 degree bend from the turbo mouth - stock turbo is I think 2.5" or 2.325" - you\'ll have to measure that with calipers. My turbo has a garret t04b front end on it, so my inlet is 3".

I then fitted a piece of straight pipe with a small T outlet - that was for the crank case return. Then you just attach you\'re AFM and air filter onto the end of that - simple in theory.

The only golden rule - between the AFM and the turbo it needs to be air tight - that\'s because the air flow is metered - so any extra air getting in will mess up the fueling.

For the diameter of the piping - I went with 3" as that\'s what comes out of the turbo and the other side of the AFM - but that still leaves you with the bottleneck on the inside of the AFM - apparently it\'s good for nearly 400BHP of air flow - so I doubt it will trouble you ;)

Your a very knowledgable man Prof! I will leave particular job alone until I\'ve got a boost controller then, I for some reason assumed it was much simpler than this and could be done once the air pump was gone. Thanks prof, once I\'ve got all this sorted I\'ll see if I can clean the thread up and make it a sticky, there is certainly a lot of helpful info on these 2 pages.

i got my belts from a company called maccess, cant remember what i paid but think its cheaper then halfrauds so i can check with them if you need some :)

Yeah man, i need 2 of the belts in question, i was hoping to get some off ebay but i\'m not sure which car they were originally on?

B.Martin

Is that definately the right one for dual alternator, with airpump removed? If so that\'s a winner.

B.Martin

Your not gonna believe it, but i have all the parts i need finally to A get the FC back on road and B remove the airpump in the process. Scary thought.

Dude, did you get a compression tube? Sorry for not getting back to you, I don\'t pay much attention to FB. Answer that, and I\'ll answer you!

Good work though, and yes that link would give you what you needed, just needed 2 belts. Did you sort them?

B.Martin

Yes got belts, blanking kit and the dual pulley. No not got the compression tube, are you selling me yours?

take your time when doing the stuff to your car so you dont forget something or get stressed out at it as were all a little too far away to come give you hand

B.Martin

Its okay, i know a guy with 2 Fc\'s and the guy is a FC genious. He knows every bolt size, every tool you need lol. I\'m hoping he\'s gonna lend a hand, i\'m sure he will he is a cool guy.

I spent a year and a half collecting fueling parts, still had a few bits missing lol
