My 0-30 is definitely not quicker than my 30-60. You can estimate that it would take me 15 secs to do 0-100 based on my 1/4. And from the 80-120 experiment - the acceleration here is quite linear - suprisingly - although my torque curve is quite flat and goes from 2000-6700 - so it should accelerate like that. Above 125-130 ish wind resistance hits.
 
I reckon 0-100 is 15 then 100-130 would be about 6-7 secs - so thats 21-22 on your book. This is for a 1.5 Ton car with 270BHP.:driving
 
The purpose of the 80-80-80 - 120 test was to illustrate the effect of waking up the tubby and then going hell for leather on WOT to see how quick the mph climbs. Why not try this in your coupe - it\'s much harder to start accelerating when you are off boost - would be more interested to know what a 20vt could do with that.:driving
 
I shall also repeat these tests later in the year when I more likely will have 330BHP to play with.:cool :cool

0-30mph will definately be quicker than 30-60 mate. Most rear drivers with 200bhp+ will dip under 2.5 secs here. A coop is 2.6. A rwd car\'s 30-70 is normally less than it\'s 0-60mph so i stand by my numbers there.

From 100-130mph will be a lot longer than 7 secs mate believe me. Take a standard coop 0-100mph is 14.5
0-130mph is 29.2, that\'s another 14.7 secs!!

Your car will be quicker than a standard coop, obviously, but it won\'t be less than 10 secs...

When i get me coop back i am gonna do this 30-130mph test.

I\'ve done these myself in the past (no offcial timing though)
Standard performance is in brackets.
0-60mph= 5.7secs    (6secs)
0-100mph= 13.1secs    (14.5secs)
30-70mph through the gears= 4.5secs  (5.4secs)
50-70mph in 5th gear starting at 40mph= 6 secs (6.2secs)

Will get it to a drag strip and dyno also. BTW the coops in-gear performance is it\'s strongest point.

It\'s all well and good trying to speculate but u need to organise a proper timed run otherwise all those figures have no relevance to 30 - 130mph sprint.

Let us know when the next timed runs are happening and if rotaries can attend. I\'ll be up for this. Rex\'s 4th gear pulls are out of this world. Can reach well over 140mph on a properly tuned car meaning only 2 gear changes.

My run up the 1/4 mile strip this year was a 13.1 @ 111mph with a crap launch. My 60 ft time was 2.25!! Could easily have bettered that with a 1.75 60ft meaning a potential 1/4 mile time of 12.6!!

I think my car should do 30 - 130mph in under 15 seconds but hey i\'m just speculating now so don\'t hold me to that!!

My car is going into the garage on the 14th August. It\'s having 5 pistons changed and a new head. Nothing i can do to make it any quicker as the guy is fully booked until then.

So I won\'t be at the essex meet as it won\'t be fixed :2Confused

After this date it\'s fixed (probably the 18th?), I will start doing the 30-130mph tests as i have said. When I have bought and fitted a FMIC i will then up the boost, get a new chip and then take it for fueling check, dyno run and then \'maybe\' down the \'pod.

I will also be able to attend one of your meets. When it\'s back on the road.

There is also MRC pub Meet at the Wharf in Kent just before blue waters and we have another London Run on 12th August but sorry thats only for Jap motors.

Or we have monthly run up to a Ace Cafe every first Tuesday of each month and last time when asked you to come along you were going on holidays......

When you can make one of these Cooops do a 4sec 0-60 a sub 10sec 0-100 I might ..... just might agree they are worth tuning. You have to ring the nuts out of them [tuning wise] to see 300fwhp all you have to do with a 7 [be it 2nd or 3rd gen] is change the exhaust and you are there plus the 7 is a much better looking car, goes round corners and by the sound of it dont spend as much time in the garage:rollin

Tell you what Mr Trappy why dont you organise with your forum a team of 10 cars, say your biggest HP ones, a couple of these 300hp ones and a few standard, we will supply the same and have a shoot out ........ wonder what the result might be?

lol this is getting funny after seeing the 20vT doing drag  1 out of the show room is just as fast as a standard fd3.Add the big hp and sadly it\'s let down for grip untill they get going,and not to much cop on corners unlike the fd3.

I swear when i get the coop back this time, i\'m going hunting for \'em. I actually like it when loads of them get involved, it\'s gonna be so funny when we have a meet and the guy has to explain what happened  I\'m gonna get a friend in the car (to make it a little fairer with the weight) and record it on me camera phone.
It won\'t count somehow though.

As you say though, it used to be a good forum, check my register date. I was on there before most of them knew what a rex was. I would have bought one but it had too much against it, fuel costs, tuning limits, finding specialists and \'that\' engine longevity... I would have killed one doing the miles i do in the coop.

Seems you took the plunge and discovered the hard way though. I reckon it would be a lovely car to drive if it was anything like the bigger MX5 it was claimed to be. We have a forum member with one now i believe.
