Its cramped in there...got 25 mm clearance from knuckles to dash. Plus i got another 2 knobs with different sets to try. Main thing ugly link gone.

Gearing for a racetrack is not just about acceleration, it can also be being in the right gear for certain corners and then hopefully having the car geared so you meet your maximum revs on the longest straight without finding yourself having to change up, then immediately down again for the upcoming corner.

Any diff ratio change will cost money on an RX-8 as you already have a 4.4 diff ratio.

Maybe worth knowing that I picked up a fair bit of lap time at Castle Coombe by changing to an R3 4.7 ratio which let the car rev out properly on the straight and be in more suited gears in the corners.

This combination also worked better at Cadwell but was slower overall at Oulton Park!.

Word of warning though, with buying a diff then the bearings then the Crown Wheel and Pinion the R3 conversion ended up being a 1k conversion-------as they say "speed costs"

Off an rs2000 escort back in the day! There are so many CWP available in all different ratio\'s so its wait and see time. If i cant get into 6th through folly onto Avon rise ill swap out as cant go down to 13" wheels the sump will rest on the ground!

Nearly accomplished what i set out todo this weekend. On the back foot due to fuel contamination...just finishing up prep for welder mate . Replacement gearbox shaved as per donor and rear mount fitted. Steel arrived ready.
Think ive finally settled on a race team name. WESTORY ROTORSPORT.

Finally got my manifold back after 3 weeks...the main bit inside the flange to the headers he forgot todo! But the exterior welds are very nice. 2 weeks for zircotec coating

?? Decisions decisions. Tunnel WILL Be done and gearbox back in by end of this coming weekend.

Big box just arrived from Playskool motorsport! Woo hoo...cycle wings that fit and light and flexible.
Bottom ball joints and rear arch protectors. All minus bjs to be be painted nice n bright!

I can get to all the loom now. so tempted to unplug and pull out from the bottom now the panels are off! get the soldering iron out and get rid off the rubbish.
