Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

Its a stepper motor that feeds oil to the oil injectors....theres a switch on it that feedback to the ecu that it has performed its function...i suspect the switch as it looks as cruddy and furry. Theres voltage there as i tested and actually shorted the switch out at track to get it out of limp mode after the start up checks but it went back into limp after a few revs. When i tried to remove switch the bolt head sheared off so packed up and went home. Still got 4 sessions in the morning and nothing overtook me so reasonably happy i got some use outta the slicks....it was a very hot day and temps for oil and water where setting my prealarms off 5 laps in so did some heat management....
Track was quiet with 20 cars on at 1 time...but oversubscribed with actually cars...massive queues to get on track spent more time queing that on track.....trackdays are becoming too popular....the secrets out...
There was an fd there going rather slowly and an rx8 that was going pretty well....and a 50 year Truimph Spitfire that was parked up in parc ferme next tome that didnt break down. I nearly went home to get the FD but not enough time.

Ok, I see...

Yes, so much people attending track days nowadays. But my opinion is that only way that track days are safe, is that they wont let lots of cars to track. Something like 20 is good, depending on track of course. Yesterday I went to FoMoCo day at Ahvenisto. At one point there where something like 50 cars racing at same time. And different skills, power differense... that wasnt safe...

The amount on track was good but the overall attendance was too high...i only managed 4 track sessions in the morning due to queing. But biggest issue was the limp mode so only 1 very slow track perimeter cruise in afternoon.

took the omp off ...and the switch...tested the switch and fine.  cyles on/ off.
Put my spare omp (which is minus a switch) and test still the same... took the switch off and fired engine actuator does not move....so switch not switching.......... :(

so as now manifold blimin hot gave up for today and printed off relevant section in mazda manual...looking like a break in the engine loom to the pcm imho...this is original but rerouted out the back off the engine...time for some continuity testing.  Here we go again :-[...im gonna wait for Bigpete's OMP from rx8oc fit that and if no good delve abit deeper.

runs blimin rich in limp, filled garage full of smoke and eyes stinging.

Jon, try the ECU re-set.

My Race car has gone into limp mode a couple of times, kill the power, ignition on, pump the pedal 20 times and re-start without turning the ignition off.

All the best Clive

Ive got the 2 electrical feeds 12v to the omp and a 12v feed to the switch. Ive printed off the mazda manual relevant section so i can continuity test pin to pin...
Ill try 20 brake stomp first though. I took the switch off and pos 2 no movement and then fired no movement with both omps. Weird thing failure during lunchtime. Came off track all ok went back on straight into limp.
