Thanks mate :) i love it as well, i had it turning over just with the starter and im glad all the wiring seems okay and hearing the engine turn gives more inspiration as well :)

dthebuk

this build is rediculous, i wish i had the time/space/funds for a project like this.

whats the plan for once its finished. Is it going to be a road car aswell?

\'91 FC TII - Drifter... Under construction :D
:burnout

Timmyc

hope thats in a good way? lol its taken a lot of each to get even this far, yeah its going to be a road car and a will take it up to crail and hopefully down south at some point, cause i live so far away from a track if it wasnt on the road it would be a total waste

got a bit done today,

fitted the extended front wheel studs
finally found caliper bolts
fitted calipers
fitted rear anti roll bar
renewed all the brake pipes
plumbed in hydraulic handbrake
decided to use my little rotor shaped clutch bracket lol

a few photos

Timmyc

more progress

the radtec rad and the intercooler are now mounted in their V configuration :) looks nice and shiney, pictures are a bit rubbish though

i think i\'ll also make a new bracket for the front of the intercooler

have taken the PAS pump off and will be making a bracket to support the new pump soon :)

bidoucrx

great works mate !!!!!!

nic3s

I want my insides to look like yours :D

How do you get it so clean from all the wiring? Have you ditched a lot of unnecessary stuff from the loom or just consolidated it and hidden it away?

m1tch

You will need an EGI water pump neck or an FD AST to run the radiator btw, its ment for an FD/FD cooling setup and so has no rad cap!

Timmyc

nic3s - i basically chopped loads of crap out of it, a lot of ABS and relays etc for all the rats nest solenoids etc, both ABS and rats nest are gone anyway, only one little loom runs down the drivers sill to the rear lights and fuel pump

mitch - i have that covered :-)

Timmyc

right so my plan was to sort a few loose ends,

i was missing a bolt from the water pump housing and as a result i couldnt bolt and seal everything together :(

i have been trying to get the original bolt but this failed so got a replacement new one, but this allowed me to remove the water pump and housing and seal the water pump housing, using the correct gasket and some wurth sealant for good measure

now all sealed, the alternator fitted, twin belt setup, was going to use gilmer pulleys but i\'d forever be getting idiots asking if it was supercharged and i think it drowns out the other noises from the car, removed the power steering belt pulley as i wont be needing that, fitted new thermostat

so after doing my brake pipes i was waiting on braided hoses and brake fluid, i originally get some from a member on here but after inspecting them they werent going to fit at all, they seem like there for an fd, so got a set from a member on mrc, fronts fit fine but the bracket on the rear wouldnt accommodate the braided fitting, luckily when at japfest a mate of mine gave me 2 reatr braided hoses and they fitted a treat so he really saved me :)

front

rear

got my brake fluid

ordered too much but will be handy to top up, the system was drained already so filled it up, let it gravity feed then bled it. was working well but my hydraulic handbrake wasnt working and was pushing air, then realised i had the pipes in the wrong way round in the cylinder, swapped ends and refitted, instant handbrake and great pedal, bled again to get all air out and now i have brakes :D

also bled my clutch, nice pedal there too :)

got a hold of a saxo power steering pump to convert from belt to electric, i have heard all sorts of rumours that some pipes fit, others dont, rack pipes need to be changed, special pipes need to be made etc. What i can safely say is that a mk2 saxo pump has the same thread size as the rx7 fc pipe and fits perfectly

have trail made a mounting bracket but it still needs work, i removed the small pipe on the top of the fc pump which i presume is for the variable speed and plugged it at the rack, fitted the feed and return and i have the wiring with relay to fit but will take power from the fuse box, will be nicely mounte soon :)

my trial bracket

when looking for bits in my toolbox i found a cusco brake master cylinder stopper, so fitted that

another loose end i had to do was fit one omp injector washer (i lost one somewhere, gods knows where? lol) was finding it hard to get the right size but was saved again by Ade who gave me one, as i was tightening the injector this happened

:censored::censored::censored::censored:ed off cause i hardly touched the thing lol with the heat the omp lines have became very brittle, i looked into gettin braided lines but for the sake of only a few psi i decided that i would get some ptfe pipe and fitting and make my own, and they turned out very nicely :)

so currently the engine bay is looking pretty sweet, i hid the alternator wiring under the inlet manifold and bolted in down.

next step is going to be plumb in the radiator and get coolant into her
try get turbo oil feed and return pipes from somewhere, get oil into her
cut and reweld my compressor housing
make a centre pipe for my exhaust
then the last big bit... the fuel setup

watch this space :)

Grieve

Without a shadow of a doubt the most \'pull finger out of arse\' inspiring thread ever. It\'s awesome, good work!

Timmyc

Thanks mate :-) i need to try keep at it and not get lazy with it! Cant wait to hear in running :-)

Timmyc

ive done a fair bit to the car recently, and all my fuel parts have arrived so will update everything later today/tonight :)

grinder

yeah mate i got the lights off him when i was down there, someone has put time into making them but i think they may sit quite low in the casings, will trial fit them and take photos at some point :)

thanks man, fuel system is looking pretty good, big update soon
