Hey everyone

I\'ve been lurking about here for a while and admiring the amazing work people are doing so thought id post up my build.

In the past i\'ve built a turbo charged mx5, had an egi fc, a ca18det powered capri but the lure of another rx7 was always there so i ended up with another fc but this time a t2 with various extras and seemed like a good base to start from.

Rebuilt engine, new rotor housings
Racing Beat 2.5inch downpipe and pre-silencer
3inch single exit
Ported Wastegate
Re Amemiya chipped ECU, Map for 0.9 bar boost, more agressive timing
Exceedy Organic Clutch
K&N Air Filter
Air pump removed
Power steering cooler pipe replaced with oil cooler
AFR Gauge
Kei Office Coilovers
Front strut brace
Rear strut Brace
Rear steer eliminators
Welded diff
Shine Auto Front lip
Lightweight Aluminium bonnet

236 bhp, 211 ft lb

also the parts that were included or i had lying at home

Origin front wide arches
Origin Rear overfenders
Apexi AVC-R boost controller
HKS additional injector controller and driver
Intercooler and piping with samco hoses and greddy inlet plenum
Battery relocation box
Shine Auto Rear roof spoiler
Front polybush kit
Steering wheel boss
Oil pressure guage
Water Temp gauge
Advan 3 spokes
Cobra evolution bucket
Sparco rev bucket
3 inch 6 point sparco harnesses
Additional injector inlet manifold
momo concept dished wheel

On my previous egi i had had advans for a while so i had been there and done that so swapped them for a set of 18s and also snapped the front splitter within a week of having the car, was gutted, cable ties are a wonderful thing though despoilered it at the same time

while bringing the car back up the road there were a few nasty noises so on the monday i took it to work to fix things i had gave it a blast with the steam cleaner and promptly blew all the paint off the back end, things werent going right with this project already.

while i was looking for new coilovers i was also on the hunt for wheels and got a set of rota gtrs 17 x 9.5 et12 all round

they could be with a refurb but wasnt too worried as they sat nice and fitted perfect with the wider front wings

so rolled with them for a while, still sourcing parts, got my painter contacted about a respray and decided to order the bn sports blister kit from ep racing so i could get that on with the wider rear quarters and get the whole lot sprayed and looking tasty

while waiting for the kit i had a bit of an impulse buy and got a dmax vented carbon bonnet to get rid of the gash looking red one and an offset numberplate bracket and square plate

I was liking the way it was looking and the way my little project was heading in the right direction but the delivery of the bn kit was holding things up, after contacting ep racing a few times they told me the fc parts due to come to this country had not been put in the container so it would be another 4 weeks from then before it was here, fair enough i thought, 4 weeks later nothing arrived, phoned them again, they said it had left the docks a week previous to this call, okay its on its way that was cool, then the tsunami hit and the whole of japan plunged into chaos, contacted them a few weeks after the disaster and they said the boat hadnt been able to leave the docks, yet they told me it had already left a week before the tsunami hit? i was confused.com but didnt argue as i didnt want to be insensitive as a lot had happened but to this day i still dont know if im getting the kit or not or where it is? lol

used the car for a while, and broke the splitter some more, fitted a couple of aftermarket gauges and steering wheel, messed about with bucket seats trying a few different types to see what suited me and suited the car, still havent decided properly lol

gave her a clean

still thought it was looking sweet i like the rough round the edges look

as my bodykit had still not arrived and i didnt want to fit the rear overfenders or spray the car without it and after contacting a member on here about parts i made another impulse decision . . . and one little trip to blackpool later i acquired this . . .

was over the moon as i had always admired this car, it was legendary in my eyes and had aspired to build mine to something like this, also a little sad as it would mean my car would never get finished as it would now be a form of donor car for this one, but :censored::censored::censored::censored: it i can eventually put my own stamp on this if i decide too, saves my the cost of spraying and worrying about the bn kit.

finally got it home after 400 miles driving

decided to see what the garage bb wing would look like on my car

decided i looked better on the team green car and got to work and as the rotas were running low on rubber i put them on as well and tidied up the inside a bit and took some photos

put the dmax bonnet on as well

gutted the garage out in preperation to strip it down then got her inside

didnt want to strip it down as it looked so good, it had to be done though

all front and rear suspension and subframes out and stripped the parts im keeping will be sandblasted this week and the welding will also be tackled this week then the underside undersealed while the white car is brought in and stripped down then the suspension from it sent to get blasted also

after a lot of drama the coilovers arrived and the locking collars were seized solid!

so this weekend i had my gorgeous girlfriend in a boiler suit that was far to big for her rubbing down the engine bay in preparation for paint hopefully in the next 2 weeks

while she was doing that i unseized the locking collars on the coilovers and tidied all the wiring in the engine bay, i also removed the sealer around the seams as when i have the welder out and no engine in i\'ll seam weld the bay and maybe make up a few strengthening plates

finished the welding on the o/s

before

after

and a little photo of the engine bay partly rubbed down
got a little more done last night, seam welded the engine bay

the white car has been in for a little while also, the rear subframe is out and stripped and the interior was taken out last night as well by my better half

just need to prime and paint engine bay then underseal the underside

a little update got the engine bay all sprayed up today by a mate who did an excellent job! really pleased with the outcome and has spurred me on to keep going at it

time for another update, got all the arches and the underside all undersealed and is looking good and ready for the re assembly

got some parts back from sand blasting and decided id do them white to keep them looking fresh and clean and will contrast with the black underneath

then painted the rear toe links and camber link along with the little plates that bolt onto the subframe

also tried some other paint i had on the kill cord brackets, thinking it looks pretty funky, looks lots brighter in person
Rzla

What engines going in? Bridge/streetport?

Looks good!

Timmyc

standard port for now, simply not enough money do a fully built engine

thanks man

i\'ve a fair few updates to put up still

B.Martin

Been following this on DW for a while now, I love it there is no other way of putting it. The work you\'ve put in is truly commendable, get the rest of build up mate. If I can my car to anywhere near the final spec of this I will over the moon!!

Timmyc

thanks very much matey :) yeah i\'ll get the rest up, its taken a while to even get it to this stage but patience is the key lol im sure you\'ll get their with your man :-)

Timmyc

a nice little package was waiting on me when i got home

started stripping the wiring and any parts that were still in the inside ready to paint it, borrowed a little technique from flik and employed ye olde cling film and wrapped the cage

hopefully should be done by at the weekend and have started planning my interior so should be good

not having much spare time recently i havent been able to update this but have done some work and received some stuff

masked off the car again, removed the lexan windows and lexan rear hatch, rubbed down the rollcage with some wet and dry to take the shine off it for painting, been masking and cover wiring, heater motors etc and been rubbing doen the inside for its coat of paint. only the roof and footwels to rub down then it can be sprayed

crappy photos but you get the idea

sold my old seats and got these, they need a clean and would have been better if they were black but oh well

not sure if blue will match at all but there are a few blue items inside the car so might work

also without them even getting close to going on the car i sold the suspension i bought in favour of these HKS Hypermax Hyper D coilovers, 32 way damping adjustment and height adjustment

started to give them a quick clean and they should come up nice

looking forward to using them scooby the front setup looks good mocked together

the turbo arrived as well, a Holset H2E, it came up cheap so thought id see we\'ll see how it goes

since it was a nice day today got some parts cleared out of the garage in preperation for painting the rollcage

my mate leek came up and we masked off a few other wee bits and then he hit it with primer, went from this

to this

leek doing his thing

then after a while and it was all dry it was hit with the top colour, dodge viper snake skin green, the same it was originally but when laquered will look much brighter and deeper than it was when done with rattle cans, unfortunately after the first light coat a patch on the passenger side door bar reacted so let it dry and rubbed the patch down so will prime the patch again through the week an leek is going to finish the green and laquer it then it\'ll all get masked itt and the rest of the interior will get sprayed white its going to look sexy!! a few of how it sits tonight, tried a bucket in it aswell to see how they\'ll look

leek put the top coat onto the cage an laquered it, i looooove the colour and how its came out will look amazing contrasting with the white interior

also got stuck into the white car and refitted the front suspension then stripped and disconnected what was needed to remove the engine and had it out within an hour with a hand from some mates

so got the car off the stands

and got her parked up outside

got a good bit of space to work on the engine now and dont have to keep moving parts around for space so need to start stripping down the engine and simplifying it

The cage it now all masked off and my god its an awkward :censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored::censored:! nice and neat now though

my mates coming round on saturday to paint the interior and then im ready to rock getting the suspension reassembled got another welded diff as mine was tooshed and some goodies arrived from MMR today as well

solid trans mounts

funky adjustable rear camber links

and also solid diff mounts, which i set about fitting last night since i have the diff in pieces at the moment

customery flaming rubber photo lol

removed the rest of the bushes and cleaned up the casing where i had to for now, will all get cleaned more and painted soon

and pressed the new solid bushes in

good bits of kit and well made, will see how the rest of MMRs parts fit\\work soon

the primer has been done tonight, hopefully paint tomorrow, i need to put the new diff in and then it needs painted but after that yeah the suspension will be built up while the paint is given a few days to harden, then the paper will come off and the panels will go back on as well yhen its onto the engine and interior

as it sits after primer
well a good bit of progress

the white is down

it looks sexy and is a cracking job so pleased that its finally done

took the tape and paper off the shell and looks great even without the cage unwrapped yet

offered a wheel up to see what it looked like

while waiting ont the paint inside to harden assembled the front subframe, using the polybushed lower arms i had already been using

then fitted the subframe, hubs and coilovers

adjustable camber mounts and strutbrace brackets

assembled the majority of the rear subframe as well using my new camber adjusters, going to replace the wheel bearing all round i think though so the rear hubs arent on yet and need to repaint the rear toe rods

so id left the paint for long enough and it got unwrapped and it looks amazing!!!

sooooooo pleased with the way it looks cant wait to get the rear suspension and diff in

speaking of which

a good few coats of VHT white incase the diff gets really warm and the colour coat is getting put on tomorrow

that is all

little more done today, all door seals on, rear hatch seals on and catches, rear hatch fitted again. placed the rear lights into place for now just to get them off the shelves, they\'ll be coming off to have some work done in the future.

starting to look a little more like a car now, well the back at least lol

since a white diff is boring and my girl is a dab hand with a spray can the diff has ended up like this

pink diffs mean business! shame ive got to run a mig spec diff, i just cant find a 2 way

had a quick look at a few stickers i have to see if they suit the car, to match the diff and a few other choice bits as well lol

dont think i want to clutter up the car too much due to the decals that are on it already but will see how it goes, gave the rest of it a t cut and a quick polish just to end the night

not much progress recently as ive had other commitments to worry about but have managed to put in the steering rack

after the rack was in the steering arms were taken off and supernow rack spacers fitted

then supernow bumpsteer eliminating tie rod ends were fitted

lots of lovely lock now

before

after

before

after

only a little progress but every little helps

made so templates for blanking plates that im going to make up

my additional injector manifold and i put the injectors in tonight so i wouldnt loose them, 4 x 550cc

and my nice flocked dash with my carbon gauge pod

and thats it so far so any items to improve the car or comments good or bad let me hear them :)

re japi

Looking nice, good job. I really liked colour of rollcage. :)
Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

I like this paint scheme more hehe :D

Also, where did you get that UIM?

Timmyc

ah the paper mache prototype fc, very rare :p

i got it from driftmotion on dw, also have and hks additional fuel controller to run it, just need to make a fuel rail

TiddlesRX7

Nice to see this car getting the attention it deserves. Good work that man and his missus!
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

Timmyc
