Top work, how much has this cost so far? Iv got a bit of cash at the moment but don\'t think I could justify spending it on my car to the gf:(

What work are you doing at the front? Chop the standard stuff and tube it?

The front end is keeping the Fiat inner wings etc but i\'m junking all the other stock parts and getting a tubed front housing the new suspension and new steering design .
Prices differ from job to job and mine\'s had custom made wishbones , a roll cage/saftey cell and custom designed space framed rear end all complete with body fabrication (rear floor , turrets , inner tubs , wheelie bars etc) .
I could have used off the shelf bits (wishbones , hub carriers , shocks etc) and used cheaper CDS tube and saved quite a bit of cash .
On mine he\'s redesigned the whole car on a motorsport CAD program too take the new power level so a fair bit of the cost is in R+D . No point having the power and then just wobbling all over the place wheelspinnng whilst dodging the armco at 140mph !!!! lol .
I\'ll probably have a complete rolling lightweight one off race car tube chassis for under 7 grand (and no rust as that all got chopped out at the same time) .
A normal RX7 type car would cost less as they are already set up for rotary turbo power and won\'t need everything redesigned but as mine was a 1960\'s 600cc 50mph town car everything was scrap .
The only advantage i had was that it only cost £200 for the Fiat and not £5000+ so mine should still work out cheap in the end . Plus it will be alot more mental compared to normal cars as it\'s rear engined and very small , this helps traction and ups the power to weight ratio/acceleration . :cool

Picked the car up today as my timeslot at the chassis shop was up . It\'s going back around December time hopefully to get the front end done , exhaust , wheelie bars , inner rear sheet metal work etc etc .
The rear coil over shocks were custom made too suit the car and the springs are 220ibls . Rotary power fits in the back a treat and is very low in the chassis so should be great for the handling .
It\'s fooooooookin light so far , i can push it with one finger so with 500+bhp pushing it should be rapido . :Thumbsup!

Wtf where\'s the rest Of the car? I have tonka toys bIgger than that from when I was kid:D looks good dude

600gaz

lol , it\'s about the size of a classic Mini . The battered outside bodywork looks quite cool so it\'s staying like that even when it\'s finished i think . Plus looking rough on the outside should upset the supercars more when it blasts past with the wheels in the air !!! Ha Ha :Giggle

That looks very cool, it\'s going to be mental when it runs on the strip.

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Cheers mate . It will look alot cooler when the front\'s done and it\'s not sticking up in the air .

Hoping you embarrass a few rotards with FDs with your beast. Going to be funny seeing it wheel stand!!

600gaz

Yes , not sure if anyone will be expecting a rusty/patchy looking Noddy car to lift it\'s wheels in 2x gears , lol . Will be a laugh on the street when the supercars try it on down the bypass . :Thumbsup!

I think it\'ll go something like this.

Beautiful project!! Any updates?
I have started a very similar project with my own 600, but with another engine though. Very interesting to follow your progress.

600gaz

No updates for a while as i\'m waiting in the queue for the chassis shop . Probably be early next year now before the front end gets done . I might order the charge cooler set up and the front wheels next month if funds allow . :)

Great, im really lookin forward to any updates :)

Hope its okay that i post a pic here?
Here is where i stopped cutting yesterday... not sure if i should just remove everything and make a new fender, or just cut it clean and make a wider fender from there. Tires will be 26x6-15".

Edit:  it looks like you cut it all off on your car, but im keeping the stock look from the outside (no abarth fender), do you think i could still cut away everything on the inside as long as i take it easy on last part of it?

600gaz

If you don\'t want wider arches but alot wider rear wheels then the wheels will need to move inwards so the extra wheel width can be fitted . This is ok for drag racing but will probably :censored::censored::censored::censored: up the cornering ability so you have too decide from day 1 .
You could get a cardboard template of the wheel width you want and then just extend the inner wheel arch tub off the original so that it covers the tyre etc . Don\'t forget to allow for the proposed ride height and suspension movement or else the tyres will fould the tub .
