Hi Karl - quick question - when you moved the fuse box, did you use the fuse ratings as a guide for the wire ratings to get? Currently moving my fusebox and I need to extend the loom - I\'m looking at things like cooling fans, demister, ABS  did you use 60A cable for all this?

Where did you get it all from? I\'m looking at VehicleWiringProducts ATM, was wondering if here were any preferred alternatives?
Cheers dude :)

nacho, i dont come to sunderland too often but if you try and get a video up or something of it running that would help. by reading your other thread though it does sound like you have done the rear rotor :( also go on youtube and type in blown rotary or something.

tbh si i carnt really remember what gauge wiring i used but 60a will be fine for all of them.

i also got all my stuff from VWP, great guys and super fast delivery. took me ages to get the order all done though lol

No worries dude, cheers muchly :) I feel your pain, I\'m just trying to sort out all the stuff i need for the little jobs like this, yours must have been a nightmre, I\'ve only got about 20 wires to extend, and it\'s driving me bonkers!
I\'#ve used VWP beforeand they\'ve always been great, just wanted to see if there were any better alternatives. I guess I just baulk at the thought of spending 40 odd quid on wires! :D /tightass

karl_tate

yeh it was a royal pain in the ass at the first, just sooo many wires to sort through. i then had to identify them all, looking at the colours and then going through the wiring diagrams and trace where they go and weather i needed them or not. i recon i spent the most time on this build sorting the wiring  :rollin

makes it all worth while in the end though bud :D

yeh, i think all my wires etc etc came to just over £240 :2eek

Looking good Karl, Im doing a service myself tomorrow so tackling the dreaded fuel filter lol. How often do the box/diff oils require a change as they both still feel smooth and were done 15k ago so wasnt gonna do them but while its on ramps your latest posts got me thinking.

Have you re-located your fuel filter then or is it stock position as ive read its more af a touchy-feely job as its near impossible to see above the diff?

thanks mate, im not sure how often they should be changed in the FD but with all the other cars i have had i have always done them around 30k, i suppose it depends how hard the car is driven. can find out for you though.

i actually left the filter in the stock position, i did think about moving etc but once under the car i had the old one off and new one back in place bolted up in about 15-20 mins.

basically once you get under there, you want to be toward the front of the diff and look right above it. there is two 10mm iirc bolts that need unbolting from the rear of the diff which hold the filter in place, once that is off the pipes are held on with them stupid spring style clamps, release them and out it pops. just remember to release the pressure out of the tank and watch your eyes for fuel as you will spill some. also note that which way the filter and bracket go.

little update from today, i was going to take the cover off the diff just to see what i had in there. well i decided against that for now as i didnt have any instant gasket left.

i have been talking to some rally guys about my clunking that i have been getting and they asked what oil i put in. i said just what i got recommended. anyway they said to try some other stuff, comma ls80w-90 GL5 specifically for lsd\'s. so out with the not so old and in with the new and hey presto the clunking has now seemed to have gone :D :D

Karl, How do you mean release the pressure in the fuel system ??, I hoping your gonna say something really simple like take the fuel cap off .

thats all i did neil :) glad you got it sorted as well.

well im off to get my map finished next wednesday :D :D

in the mean time i have been sorting the issues that i had when i was on the dyno which was spiking and leaning out at the top end.

changed the fuel filter
fitted profec b spec 2
fitted 044 fuel pump
changed lines from wastegate
rewired fuel pump

so my lines finally turned up this week, but jesus, i didnt expect them to be so costly, two lines with fittings and some 6mm hose came to just under £100   good job i get them for free :Giggle :yes

i also got the fitting and fuel filter for the 044 from clive, great service,
came the next day.

after looking properly inside the "bucket" there is a slight slope and i wanted the filter at the bottom of the slope and to also get the pump at the right height. after a few measurements and a bit of hacking away at the fuel pump bracket it was all together and in.

tested to see how much power the pump is getting when running and it was 11.3, not good really and when i revved the car it went down to around 10.7. although i wasnt using this pump on the dyno this must of been the cause of it leaning out at the top????

so out came the barrel of wires, fuse and relay boxes that i cut out to find a relay. hey presto, the tns one will do nicely :)

ran an amp wiring power lead from the battery to the corner of the boot near the fuel pump, then cut the wire that is switched live and ran an suitable earth.

all in and very secure even though it doesnt look it. wanted as little wiring as possible that why i mounted it near the pump.

well the lines are on and all neatly connected up. decided to give the bay a little clean as well as it was getting grubby.

the fuel pump is now getting 13 volts weather its idling or revving now so happy days :D boot all tidied up and wired hidden and gave it a little hoover out as well.

fingers, toes and everything else in between crossed for wednesday :3gears-rh

well everything went well and its now fully mapped at 0.9bar and a rev limit of 7400rom but was still getting a little creep so that was allowed for in the fueling. not overly fussed but will be looking into it over the winter. my water injection nozzle was too big as well, stupid me forgot to take the other nozzles :spank

made 392 at the hubs and the power was still rising so enough for me for now :driving
