Now i have a completley standard RX7 Type R bar the BOV and want the same it sounds so great make me go weak at the knees lol what i want to know is how can i get this i mean is it a good thing does it wreck the engine or turbos im not sure and if i need anything how much is it likely to cost me I allready have a HKS SQV BOV but it just doesnt chatter i dont know what i need my mate says i need to increase boost and get an external wastegate or something but i aint got a clue to be honest HELP!!!

Thanks Guys and Gals

You\'ll need an external wastegate for that, which will require a single turbo kit, and no BOV installed, but man oh man does it sound good (i have this setup and LOVE the noises)

How much is this likely to cost i know its quite expensive and my mate still has a BOV i know its a totally different car but surely it would work roughly the same way wouldn\'t it????

NOISE IS GREAT AINT IT!!!

3K odd for the kit with accessories, just wait untill you standard setup goes pop and do it then :)

You get more chatter ( and louder)  without the BOV than with one

Ok thanks a lot buddy any reccomendations for the kit

There are several sounds that make me go all goose bumpy and this is one of them ....... heaven ...... the others are, " don\'t worry I\'ll pay " " I like older men " and the squelchy sounds at the beginning of Betty Blue. :mmmm

REWorks sell plenty, you need to do some research and think about what you ultimately want from the car.

You can have 350rwhp and a super responsive smaller turbo upto 500rwhp and a monster turbo that wont spool under 5000rpm.

I have a T04S (old design) and I love it, spools up at 3000rpm and is very responsive giving me 330rwhp at 0.85bar. I need to upgrade my fuelling to run more boost but she\'s plenty quick enough for me.

bear in mind to go single you will need the following as well as the kit itself...

Intercooler (front mount or V mount ideally)
Bigger radiator (reccommended but optional I guess)
More fuelling, i.e. injectors, bigger pump, fpr, etc..
ECU, suggest Apexi PFC for cheapness and global tunability (  everyone know how)

i think this guy is talking about compressor surge/ turbo chatter and not the zippy noise you get from a wastegate as he says when changing gear. My wastegate starts making that noise at around 0.6bar until i change gear, when i change gear i get the "rally" sound from the turbo. This is what you mean and surely to do this you just need to tighten the BOV up or take if off completly. I dont know if this would be ok for the standard turbos but i know its acceptable for low boost on skylines and supras.

James B

Dunno about the above but I know what he is talking about it ....... alot of Supras have it ........ Gary M knows all about this ..... fond memories of the yellow FD trashing me on the motorway ...... you just always had to change gear as you shot past me didn\'t you :cool

RAW

mine has chatter and i\'m running a standard twin setup all be it with quite a few mods.  it does sound good! happens off boost as well as on

If your talking about the compressor surge noise than simply disconnect the bov and providing you have an aftermarket air filter the noise should be pretty loud. i know the noise you\'re talking about, my mate has a S14 200sx and makes the same noise, perhaps a bit louder.
From what i\'ve read, as long as a car is running standard boost levels it shouldn\'t damage the turbos, but don\'t take my word for that.

There is no such thing as wastegate chatter, all this is is the air coming back from the closed throttle body and hitting the turbo blades. just remove the dump valves with a nice open air filter you will hear it.

James B

It is a rapid ch ch ch ch ch ch ch sound.

Not any kind of escaping air sound or induction whooosh.

Sadly my FD does not do it .......
