Morning

Difficult one to answer without knowing sizes.

However if you want one buying one from merlin or demon tweeks works out cheaper.

Cheapest one on there is 30 quid but it may not suit your application

There is usually a minimum order quantity on the chopped strand matting so it’s works out expensive for one, but if you got the stuff it’s peanuts in the grand scheme.

I’ll post a file on in a bit coz I’m on the bog too, but we can come onto that

I base my sizes on the height of the duct because you may have space contraints, I.e. putting one in a flat Ali floor near the sump but you only have 25 mm clearance.

You punch in 25mm in the text box and it works out the rest for the optimum shape width and length etc

Historically I’ve bought off cuts of kitchen worktop at 30mm thick, for less than a tenner and I can get about 4 or 5 different versions of if that piece.

Cut it, shape it, prime, wax, gel coat, grp even with the wood I reckon I could make one for less than £ 20 in materials. Not much of a saving over demon tweeks, but once you have the mould you can make hundreds....

But the biggest benefit it’s a size and shape that works for your car not a “make do” universal one from a shop.

As for bog, I’m with you, ............

I’ve read a few books and done some research and have never come across “bog” as a term for this kinda stuff. It may be just the terminology just called summat diff.

I’ll post this file shortly..... I don’t mind making you a duct, I’ll post you the mould too so you can get some materials and make your own ducts in the future

Just remember the initial outlay is the expense and the liquid products can have a shelf life....

I’m getting through tons of product making different one off parts

Leave it with ya.......

Oh ok, a simple duct if you drilled down the nitty gritty,

I could make a naca duct for around 15 -20 quid

Worktop
Bit of ply
Crystic primecoat
Floor wax (I never use the proper stuff)
Gel coat
Polyester resin
Chop strand
Tools( brushes rollers mixing buckets stirrers)
Acetone for cleaning

As for the rad duct I’m making now, much more expensive.

A pack of 50mm thick polystyrene from b&q 25quid
A tin and a half of filler at 30 quid a tin
Some lengths of timber
All of the above materials

I reckon this duct will cost me around 100 quid in materials.

Sounds expensive but it’s completely one off, if you paid some one to make it it would be considerably more expensive.

Probably 2 weeks work sanding and shaping but that parts my hobby

If I kept a tab on how much Ive spent on this project to get where I am I may have stopped by now lolllll

I do it coz I enjoy building one off stuff.

Yup theres times where ive thought christ i could have bought a car and ragged it round a track.

Its just me lol

With all the wedding plans she’s got going on.......

I’d rather go in the shed and smother my whole naked body in grp resin and try and pull it out my hair than sit in the house and watch

Say yes to the fat dress USA or curvy brides for hopeless women who can’t make a decision without looking stupid on tv.
