Paul picked up car yesterday and drove it 125 miles back to Luton!  Chris an I where a little apprehensive to say the least as a big first journey for a car sat for 5 years but she made it home!

Yes, the car made it home flawlessly. I'm well pleased. :)

Everything was rock solid, temperatures all good etc, the car pulls really well, handles great, its all good.

I would really like to thank Jon for all his work on my car along with his friend who welded the wing on, haywards for mapping & identifying & fixing the mystery exhaust leak and Chris the perfectionist, who repaired and resprayed the bodywork. I looks like it just came out of the showroom all straight no ripples or anything really impressive work.

I need to take some photo's for the agreed valuation on my insurance. Which I will post. I put £7000 as the agreed valuation any comments as what the value should be as its a UK Fd ?

I think 7 k is a fair valuation. Thanks for kind words. Ill pass onto Chris.

Oh no ...battery terminal melted?
How bad is the fire damage? Difficult to see in pics? Looks like bad short to earth on chassis. Need a better photo Paul.

On my pc now can see better. Was it the battery or has a fan motor gone up?  I think this will be close to be written off Paul. You may be able to claim the salvage title.

Dont know whether this photo helps....but is it possible battery stay shorted on the battery isolator....i thought the isolator was after the fuses on the positive terminal?

Arrrrggggggggg, so sad to see   :(

if you are paying a body shop who would need to strip the engine bay / to paint and a huge amount of labour  to clean everything then yes it will be an uneconomical repair,

This will depend how much you want to keep the car, then  if you can buy the car back and do a lot of work yourself
