confirmed its a trans X and 4.1
had a play with diff? very small amount of backlash say 0.5mm all gears/ bearings look good no swarf in oil what am i looking for?

Home all dropped off played the spot the rotary game on my 9 hr round trip....thought i see a few rx8s...but alas zero....but 2 fds.....1 in his Workshop and 1 pulling out of my local trading est. 3 mins from home..Bizarre! defo thinks us rotor heads are a dying breed!

Steve the chassis guy said too far gone. Its scrap....no rash decisions decisions bit of pondering....prob look for a new chassis. Was a blast ill be back !

hunt for a SEi chassis is on....Steve said he reckons there was prior damage in the chassis already as well...been on the jig its all over the place and not pulling out.

off to pick up the chassis tomoz.......slight glimmer of hope....a mate looks after a v8 westy for a hill climber friend of his and he repaired that chassis when everybody else said no....he said he will take a look. with that car he made lots of measurements and tack welded a piece of box section down the centre line of the chassis and moved everything to suit .i.e all suspension point/pickups being equal ...he said there not square from the factory as that owner bought a brand new chassis and he took measurements from that!!!:eek

its a glimmer of hope my chassis is no longer made so finding 1 will be hard and all my panels etc dont fit the newer models.

Theres a rolling chassis on ebay which is an option as gives me spares and a far few bits to sell on...its a lot of cash though and my RX8 may have togo to fund this option.

hes goona pop round in the week for a look see so maybe just maybe a Frankenstein Westory is poss!

all positive though watching my vid is inspiration enough. just wish i was a bit more handy at welding and fabrication....not my forte!:Giggle
