Had a chat with my welder mate at work and showed him the photos and he\'s well up for welding the chassis. Apart from sorting the Tunnel he\'s even offered to gusset the chassis for strength and fabricating a crash box structure for the front to protect the rad and chassis. Hes a big chap not sure he\'s gonna fit in the engine bay!:rollin

Electrics giving me a severe headache. Ive studied drawings for the the last couple of weeks but in the Westfield its already been modified with cut wires in the fuse box, cut plugs etc.....It all needs to come out and be layed out to fathom whats what.

It works although not pretty and very concerned about time limitations !

Think i\'m going to leave as is as have to hack the car about to get the loom out far easier to make a new 1 up off the car ready for a swap in the future. Its a Race car project not a engineering project so think the rewire needs to be put off to next seasons winter project else never gonna get on grid. Its a shame but really want to be race ready for first race of the season and there are so many other things todo.
At best ive been round with multi meter and nothing hanging down live so its cable ties and tape to secure and water proof.
The loom passes through the bulkhead and its been sealed with tiger seal and rivets Ive really got to hack it apart to get it out.

Raaa bit miffed off at mo.

More tinkering today....lots of little jobs tidying and making better. Manifold being zicortec coated...exhaust wrap is rubbish and makes you itch like hell.

How much is it costing you?

Gonna have to speak to Clive monday its big but the heat wraps only done 1 track day and the bit on the outside is grotty. Think its a case of needs to be done as the engine mount is smack bang in the middle of the headers so i really dont want that melting ! and getting rid of under bonnet temps on a rotary is only a good thing.

Ive stripped it all off and binned it horrible stuff.:Tongue1

Got a box of goodies from Mazda Rotary Parts today thanks Clive....send me the bill and ill settle up. Delay with manifold as welder at work gone grumpy on me!
Been over to Merlin and bought a race suit and oil cooler duct and naca....tinkered with it but no good now on plan F.

Issue is cooling. Maybe a bit of paranoia thrown in but nose cone is small and it houses both the rad and oil cooler. When i first got the car i noticed coolant temp was high and rising and in fact on home noise test ecu shut throttle down. This was solved by v mounting oil cooler and allow more airflow into rad but on track day which was a very cold day oil got as high as 115 C after 10 mins of driving.....Trying to future proof for a 30 deg day. Rad and oil cooler are quality motorsport items. Plan now is to  retyrn oil cooler to original place and box the whole lot in alloy plate and seal any holes.

You could add a secondary smaller rad in there

Not a bad idea heater matrix pipe is capped on rear of engine if boxing in don\'t help could run a smaller rad from that back to water jacket. Could mount on side with louvres. Would also give me more coolant capacity.

Could run it through a termostat too zoo temps are good but if get above normal conditions then the water will be swapped in until thermostat closes again
