Time slipping away very quick atm, and having started the new job my mind has been elsewhere.

My frist event is on Sunday the 17th, so I have been getting worried about whether or not this will be back together and mapped in time for then.

So with this in mind i was up till 3:30 last night throwing lots of bits back together.

I\'ve had to start again with my wiring look, as the one i had soldered the injectors & resistors to was extremely brittle and a couple of connectors snapped while i was refitting. So i\'ve gone back to my previous loom and kept it simple by jusst wrapping up the unwanted plugs rather than stripping and then done the soldering (this time with heat shrink )

I then got on with the list of stuff that\'s outstanding, highlights of which are

  • Refit wiring loom
  • coil & ignighter feed with uprated wire via a relay
  • pressure test the fuel lines
  • refit inlet manifolds and inlet pipes
  • secure intercooler
  • change spark plugs to fresh BUR9EQP\'S
  • fit oil catch can
  • refit alternator
  • fabricate LIM heat sheild

The heat sheild it a bit slap dash but should do the job and looks neat(ish)

It\'s still a mess but getting there

Coming along nicely. Do you think you will have it done for your first session? Have you thought of moving onto competitive sliding as well as taxi?

rx7ali

I\'d love to complete, but the costs are huge. Would need to spend around a 1000/1500 to get the car fitted with the safety gear.

Then there\'s the huge costs of getting to and from events, accommodation, fuel, tyres and of course keeping up with the competition regarding performance is tough.

If I got offered a spot on the EDC rather than BDC I\'d probably be up for it, but after all the expense you don\'t get much seat time in the BDC.

Any way... Plenty more seat time required to get up to top skill level :-)

As for he car I\'m doing some more bits and bobs tonight, and hopefully starting her up Saturday morning.

Grant Monkhouse

Last time i went to see the EDC it was 350z cressida, chaser, BMW and the rest were silvias with 1JZ or 2 JZ, not enough variety.

havent been to BDC yet but i can see it being a pain in the arse for seat time as their are a lot of competitors

Very true on the variety front. Pete Barber was the man to represent the rotary scene in the drift scene but now he\'s moved onto datsuns :-(

BDC has too many classes and drivers, so practice time is next to nothing and if you go out in the early stages of qualifying or head to heads you\'d be pretty :censored::censored::censored::censored:ed off with having thrown money at nothing. I\'m happy with the display days for the moment. They pay for themselves and its all day drifting. Only downside is they are all small circuit and 2nd gear stuff.... Can\'t complain tho!!!

Grant Monkhouse

Yeh heard Pete was with a Datsun now, turns out is 1J is less reliable than his rotary!! So I heard anyway

Rally? bad times!

I saw he was doing an rx8 1jz build soon after selling the fd but no idea how far it got into being completed.

Just booked my dyne time for mapping on the 16th so I had better finish the :censored::censored::censored::censored:ing thing off to week ay :burnout

Grant Monkhouse

I\'m sure you will get it done, but double check everything you have touched just to be sure.

How much boost you going for?

Grant Monkhouse

I heard about the rx8 project but never saw anything of it, think he sold it on as I requires a lot of work

Yeah will be checking and double checking everything through paranoia :-/

Not sure on boost, maybe 1bar. Dont wana go crazy as reliabilty is key!!

Sounds about right, lots of wiring :-/

Grant Monkhouse

Do you put any race fuel in your engine boost demo\'ing? Would be a nice safe guard.

Hopefully you will have a little bit more power with the single tub and 1 bar

Ive only ever used optimax, race fuel just sounds expensive and confusing.

Ill be running premix this year as well :-)

Grant Monkhouse

I don\'t think it costs that much.

How much fuel do you use in a day?

Grant Monkhouse

Ok just checked santapod site...... It\'s £100 for 5 gallons...... Not that cheap! Ha
