Quote from: clive;823162Whilst I\'m sorry you took so long to get in, real pleased you enjoyed the day.

p.s. I was bedding in and testing some experimental front Racing Brake brake pads which I now wish I had fitted in the earlier sessions as they found me a good 2-3 seconds a lap :D

Holy Moly, If that\'s how hard you push whilst you\'re bedding stuff in then you\'ll be no tail-end-charlie in the upcomming race series.

oh and thanks, Becky now want\'s me to ditch the FC and get an RX8... :rollin:2Confused

I should point out that I was cleaning it - Neil was playing on his iPad!

You might be in this photo then - the postie behind us got out at least three times for a fag. We gave up at about 11am and went back to the Little Chef for some brunch and a wee! Thought we\'d give it time to clear but set off again at midday and still took another two hours to get in.

Yep! there we are, 4 Cars behind you. Behind the Citroen?

Quote from: Kodiak;823158Left Swindon at about 8:15 thinking it didn\'t start for the public till 9:00 so we\'d get there just in time. 4 hours later sat in traffic down some country lane thinking "I can just about hear tyres squealing...".

Sorry to Lisa and Casey for missing my track time. We were stuck out in the middle of nowhere with some lads in a Civic behind us from Lithuania! :eek

Saw a couple in a blue RX8, I believe they\'re well known on here ;), down from the Morrisons round about get out and start cleaning it.

Beautiful gold SA22c driving around the area and then parked up outside the Event?

With the FC not playing ball the night before it gave me an excuse to bring the girlfriend and daughter which was nice however the heat and the queuing Elise (the sprog) wasn\'t playing ball for the few hours we spent actually inside the gates.

Who had the black T2 on the MRC stand and what is your pillar gauge pod please? :chat

And, Boosted, does your other half post about your FD and Colt on Pistonheads?.........No mate my Mrs on Piston heads????:Hammer Not my misses, she is glued to facebook! LOL !

Couldn\'t quite believe how quick Clive was in the 8 despite the lack of engine noise emanating from it. Was brilliant to see his braking getting later and later (AFTER THE HUMP!) lap after lap during the second RX8OC session. Phenomenal.

Two chaps in a fairly standard looking (aesthetically) FD passed us (Green Mazda2)  on the M4 which I saw later on the stand with a very polished engine bay.

All in all, Lovely Track (and local), Great Stand, Shame about the queues. :Thumbs-up

Was a great day out, shame others got caught in traffic !

Better late than never...

Just want to add my thanks to all those involved :Thumbs-up
I arrived to the RX-8OC stand nice and early, so no queuing to get in (so glad I left when I did!!)

Many thanks to the MRC for the two track sessions, GREAT (addictive) fun as always.

PS, Good to hear Dave is OK after the incident - hope you can get the car back up and running soon.
Also good to hear nice comment about the marshals out on track.

I\'d like to join the many \'Thanks to Clive & Lisa\' for organising this event. I travelled down from near Leeds the Friday afternoon, to ensure an early arrival at the track, but despite arriving at just after 7.15 am we still had to rush to make the first track session.
Thankfully no one was injured by a passing RX going to and from the stand between track sessions.

I also apologies for not being around on the club stands until late in the day to meet other RX owners and to chat. It\'s amazing how much info can be picked up looking at different cars and chatting to the owners.

Big thanks to Clive for coming to my rescue with a large tool kit when my front pads jammed in the calipers. Thankfully we managed to change the road pads for the \'track pads\'.

Aston, I was so lucky when I went back on Sunday morning to find your rain trays. The track was locked up, but after half an hour of driving between the main and side gates I met an organiser who was kind enough to accept my story and let me drive down to the club stand area, where I found your trays.
They are now safely in my garage and I\'ll bring them to Oulton. If you cannot make it I\'m sure Malcolm or Ian would take them.

I had a fantastic drive home on Sunday morning with very light traffic.

Will post a few pictures up shortly.

to be honest the sitting in the car all day didnt really bother me its the fact that i\'d bought my ticket in advance with my club stand, £15 and then spent £60 in fuel, i may aswell have just set fire t0 75 quid:2Mad

Well my weekend was very not good either, i left the hotel at 8 to get to the track, que\'d for i don,t know how long, engine overheated twice with warning buzzer driving me mad, so had to leave the que to find water, and was lent a kettle from a snack van, this made me pull out of my track session, not quite knowing what the problem was, also i did not see one sign, or direction on how to get where i should of been anyway.
My son turned back after sitting in a 16 mile tailback. 2 miles from the track
Even if did decide to do the session, there was no way i would drive through all the public with children etc, if your foot slipped how many kids could be killed, a disgrace to Castle Commbe, why is there not a dedicated slip road fo those going on the track, i will never go again.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself...
But i can always do with some help now due to, my advancing years!

Quote from: Sicknote;823157For those that don\'t know defo take the back route into the circuit, still have to queue but no where near as bad but it\'s been like this for years now and nothing is done so I assume there IS nothing they can do about it, it WAS worse this year due to the sun actually shining I think.:cool

Currently it looks like they let one car in at a time.

I reckon they could do a lot by having multiple booths that are deeper into the car park to deal with ticket handling - 4 or 5 would help keep the queues moving forward for those who had tickets ready, and you wouldn\'t have too much wait if there were lots of people who had to pay.

I also had to take the back route into the circuit, and with about 25 minutes to go to the briefing had to go down on the wrong side of the road to do it.

Made it though and had a brilliant day meeting old friends and new faces :yes The track sessions were superb as was the chill out afterwards in the club areas.

Thanks to Lisa for making me feel welcome when I first arrived, and thanks to Casey for the fast ride in his RX-8 (: :3gears-rh

I know what people mean about the queues, they made an announcement about some spare track time on the 4:30 session, I booked it and drove from the stand at 4, didn´t get there until 5, bit late lol, they gave me a refund so it´s all good. will do a proper track day anyway!

hey I made this suggestion to Casey but I´ll post it here too, for next year you could give people the option of getting their track passes posted or picking them up on the day; I think quite a few people might choose to pick them up because then if for some reason you can´t make it it´s easy to sell them on (to the last minute people like me!:o)

oh and who was the hot girl driving the black FD towards the pits at about 2pm?

RX8Head

I was over on the RX8 stand(at least some of the day when not fighting though the public to get to the track) but still was out in the first track session with the MRC lot and must say sorry to the guy in the black FB(think it was Jim according to Malcolm) after passing him on the next lap I went  off a little at Quarry guess it was a case of talent running out but lucky only minor damage to the passenger rear door.  Glad to hear that driver and passenger in the green RX7 were ok and not to much damage to the car.
Had two other great sessions out with RX8OC club the only down side was all three times I started out near the back so had to get passed a few slower guys before getting a few clear laps and the chequered flag came out in my last session just as I was starting to learn the track :2Rolleyes.
Guess maybe I should have gone for all four sessions :driving.
As for getting into the track we were just about ok leaving reading services at 6.20 and getting in at 7.40ish just having time to dump stuff out the boot at the stand and get to the briefing and be sound checked by 8.10.
Japfest really do need to sort out the traffic side of things plus look at putting the clubs that have dedicated track session near the pits.

A few random pictures on the day.

I really don\'t think they have a monkeys about us having 4 track sessions and being so far away from the track.
It puzzles me when there is plenty of room in the paddock area that clubs occupy this should really be priority parking for clubs with a number of track sessions. I heard from Scootg that the Z boys had one or two dedicated track sessions and they where stood right next to the sound testing.

Hey all,

As I mentioned over on the RX8OC, to all who were instrumental in making this event a success.....a BIG thank you, and to all those who where there to make the event another special one....thank you to you too.

My story of the day is very similar to many of the others, what with being on 4 track sessions, I felt like I hardly made it back to the stand to get to chat with everyone. But despite the brief time back at the stand, it was a pleasure to see all the friendly faces.

Its always fun to go out to play with all kinds of rotaries, I always come away feeling like I want to adopt a bunch of FC\'s and FD\'s to come and live on my driveway and eat out my bank account together whilst sipping on the finest oil and high octane gas lol.

I cant imagine any other clubs were up to the joined fun that was being had between the MRC and the RX8OC......!! :)

bit late but would like to also add my thanks to clive and lisa for a awesome day

coming off the m4 wasn\'t two bad as i was a bit late and started queuing at 9
and i was on the club stand by 10 having wading through quite some blind and deaf people who couldn\'t hear a car literally 1ft behind them on a road :)

were the marshals at the gates with japfest and future events or are they working for castle combe?
because getting out was a nightmare will all three directions from our area and the both roads from the pits etc trying to get out plus no one could pull
out and we were waiting a hour till some one with some brains was stopping the traffic
so we could pull out

and ive finally broke my track time cherry haha was my first time on race track and i was bricking them going
out and expecting every thing to pass me being as i
was in the car with the least amount of power but as
soon as i was on track it was awesome cant wait till the next track day just a pitty oulton park and snett are so far away

ive managed to get some of the pics from the website so if anyone needs some pm me and i\'ll get them from the website

Hi there and welcome over to MRC! :wave

Thank you for your comments - it is good to here the stories from the guys who were out on track (although all the RX-8 guys tell me they were faster then the RX-7\'s and vice versa! :Giggle )

There are lots of RX-7 projects around at the moment but as you say (and as I\'m sure Malcolm, Ian and co will agree) they do tend to eat away at your cash and time. But then again what else are you going to do with it?? :rollin
