Click the above link and have a look under the 1970 Duster pro-mod link . He\'s having it painted up in old skool muscle car colours so it will look the nuts i reckon . Budget is £150,000 for your own one so we best get saving , lol . :chat

How you doing, I see you are progressing well, with such a short wheel base I can see it will be the ride of your life.
Do they think they will be able to tame it?
Your quote is so true.

Quote from: 600gaz;821019The more power you have the more important the set up is or else you just wheelspin . It\'s all interesting stuff when you look into it (well i think so) lol .

Quote from: 600gaz;821042The pro-mod is brand new so never been used yet . It\'s a twin turbo methanol big block V8 and the turbos are as big as footballs and they run 42psi at half track !!!! The rolling chassis is finished so he\'s now making the sheet floorpan for it . I\'ll find you a link with some pics .

There is a green dodge Plymouth with twin turbos, it ran last year, on the first run it did it had huge tyre shake but still ran a terminal speed of 230 I think!!!!!! It has 2 precision 102mm turbos on it!! Build around 20psi on the start line, any more and it gets tyre shake and the driver goes dizzy!! Hahaha. I asked the driver whilst they were lining up for qualifying,

A set of tyres for a pro mod is 2-3grand and they could use a set in one meet. The engines get rebuilt at a cost of 40,000 every time. If I had the money I would get my licence and a car to compete in pro mod. Where\'s my lotto ticket??

Hi Jay , he reckons the car will fly straight and true as he\'s done a full suspension design from scratch . He\'s junked all the stock parts so started again with a blank canvas using a computer cad design showing full suspension geometry at ride height and once compressed etc etc .
Only time will tell what it actually drives like at full power but fingers crossed it don\'t kill me !!!

JayDee

Cool what is his pricing like, if he is confident with yours a half tub fd would be easy for him.

Got your eye on 7 seconds all ready jay? With a half rubbed fd?

600gaz

Jay his prices are very resonable (cheaper than plasters and mechanics , etc, lol) so let me know what you\'re thinking of having and i\'ll ask him for you . He\'s a top bloke , very nice to deal with and a real expert chassis craftsman .
He designs and makes all chassis , all suspension parts , exhaust manifolds for turbos and external wastgates etc , circuit cars , drag cars , hillclimb cars , parachute set ups , wheelie bars , engine mounts , gearbox mounts , sheet metal in steel or alloy , tig welding etc etc . He\'s done some work on Gary Goodings RX7 tube chassis so would be up for it i\'m sure .
The biggest cost is the materials so chossing CDS tube over Chrome-moly tube is alot cheaper as it costs half the price . The only difference is the strength and extra weight difference as Chrome-moly is alot lighter and stronger .

Next Chris will be installing the tube frame , modified rear floor and bulkhead , rear tubs , rear turrets , rear suspension , etc etc so stand by for more pics later this month .

Awesome stuff. Mini tubs look freaking awesome. I should have mini rubbed my rx4 :( maybe in a year or so....

600gaz

Yes you can get your tubs done later as it\'s not major unless the chassis rails are in the way . Mine has very small tubs compared to what he\'s used too doing , normally on the Yankie v8\'s they are about 3 foot wide !!! :chat

3root wide tubs on your car would require you bolting 2 cars together.

I will see where I go with my car because if I did go for tubs and a cage I might as well do the whole shabbang and back half it but that would be a while away, I would also want to get a proper gear box for that setup so costs would be near 10,000.

Enough about my car, looking forward to more chassis pictures of yours.

600gaz

Sounds like a plan Grant but you may not need to . The mk1/2 Escorts are in the 10\'s with nothing fancy at the rear , my mates car runs 10.2secs with just leaf springs and locker !!!!
I might be going down the chassis shop today or tomorrow so will get some more pics . He\'s done both tubs , rear chassis rails and is now making the turrets and rear wishbones . :)

Grant Monkhouse

I just meant if I want to go really fast. There is an rx4 on YouTube running 8s with leef spring suspension and mini tubs. Runs a 20B engine though.
