Hey Kenji

I\'m in the same position as you, I have a coolant leak so haven\'t been driving it and only started it the other day to move it around. I went to get into today (very cold, car had ice all over it) and it cranked over but no joy.

My battery is now dead, so down to the auto-parts store tomorrow and then gonna get some wire brush, a trickle charger and clean up the plugs, pull EGI fuse and crank over with plugs out for a bit.

Hope she\'ll start up, because I\'m not in a position to tow start her. I\'ve nowhere to attach a tow hook? Also don\'t have a second car to help.

Me too, Just been through this, non starter for two weeks. Coolant leaks, flooded, dead battery. Not fun at all. Got her going yesterday finnally. Try new leads and plugs Gav, seemed to help me. Wire brush may not help you, I read somewhere if they are left in fuel they\'re done.

The new fuel pump sorted it for me. She wasn\'t flooded at all.
Just had to hook up some jumpleads to my other car to help Rexxie start up, as all the turning her over left the battery drained too.
But with the help of my other car she fired right up. :-)

The fuel pump was the first thing I upgraded on my FC, didn\'t really trust a 20 year old part to give the fueling the engine needed. It was perhaps a very good thing that the pump failed causing the engine not to start, if the pump had failed/didn\'t pump as well when you were on full boost the engine might have gone lean and you could have lost the engine. Don\'t forget that the Walbro pump due to the higher flow overwhelm the OEM FPR, might be worth upgrading to an aftermarket FPR to keep the fuel pressure constant.

I got mine started tonight.

I used these links:

I also spoke to Jon at AtomicRex who told me to pull the plugs. So I did, I cleaned them up with a wirebrush and she still didn\'t start, but after pulling the EGI fuse, then holding throttle open cranking it, then putting the fuse back trying again and so on (had to do this a few times) she finally kicked over and ran with lots of smoke :).

I could hear it wanting to start just not getting there yet, a couple of times she was running for a second or 2 before dying so just kept at it. Took it for a quick drive and red lined it a few times to try and clear out as much carbon and excess fuel as possible.

I couldn\'t drive for long though as radiator has a slow leak and I don\'t want it to get too hot.

What a pain in the ass, but from now on I\'ll remember always let it run to operating temperature and then shut it off. No quick moves around the backyard.

Where is the OEM FRP located by the way?

This is why it\'s good to have a fuel pressure gauge in the car I guess. Don\'t want to run lean and go boom.

Now would also be a good time to replace the fuel filter (which is pretty expensive for what it is, but necessary all the same).

Going to replace mine soon. After I sort out this coolant leak :S

BTW is it common for FC/FD fuel pumps to die?
