I\'d go with the rebuilt one personally, chances are on 95k even if you fix the problem your not going to get much more life out the engine.

Kamatari

true the 95k one may not have much life in it but then it could have another 60k to go?

Although its not to say that the rebuilt engine might be in the same state.. all depends on whats causing the misfire

You\'d be a very very lucky boy to get 160k out of a RE, especially at the age it must have reached by now. Not impossible, but unlikely. Diagnose the low mileage problem first then the other one, one at a time is always best. Have you tried all the suggested actions on either car yet? ;)

Kamatari

been trying to find airleaks, checked spark plugs, changed leads, changed the dizzy cap so far on both

This probably sounds like a silly question... if someone is on about "ancillaries"...what would they be refering to?

m1tch

Ancillaries would be things like the air pump, PS pump, alternator etc etc, if things that are bolted to the engine, but aren\'t actually the engine block :)

Kamatari

I dont know why ive never realized before.... WGT isn\'t that far for me! like an hourish drive from my home and 20mins from the other half\'s! AHHHHHH i think im going to have to take this rex down and see what they say about the misfire and then take the other one and get them to give it a quick check!

Thats a good call mate, WGT come highly reccomended! If my memory serves correctly my egi was rebuilt by them, I remember calling them to see if they had record of it as the guy had no receipt. You should definately at least give them a call.

So october was the last time i posted here and since then not that much has happened apart from a little breaking of one of the cars...

So with christmas here, a bit of time off work(well a week) i am hoping to do my best to get the car all sorted and back on the road!

currently there is welding that needs to be done and the car is sitting at the house, i\'m going to get it transported to the unit and get the welding done, get it put back together and get it MOT\'d *fingers crossed*
