Exhaust wise I reckon I just need to swap the cat around and bodge a pipe from the cat to the old flange

In other news from driving it a bit more it seems to be loosing any power pulling off and doesn\'t like reversing... If the spark plugs where wrong types that could be a reason for it running rubbish? I\'m thinking of pulling the plugs and leads from my other to see...  Also with the oil pressure gauge not working... Any ideas what to check?

Think I\'d be trying all the usual things spark plugs/leads/vac leaks I\'d also take the inlet system apart and give it a good clean with some carb cleaner. Do the throttle body aswell. Maybe try the O2 sensor off your other car in it too. All the cheap things basically!

I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

Hmmm exhaust question time, whilst looking at getting something made up to connect the split air pipe to the cat I\'ve been told there\'s an easier way to do it and that it actually reduces back pressure attaching it to there? What do you reckon?

Well another update...

Tried swapping the dizzy and no good, swapped the ht leads and still no good :( cleaned the grounds up aswell...

Now with the exhaust it seems as its been a complete bodge so I\'m not sure what to do with it... Think I might try and stick up a wanted thread for a stock exhaust and cat and getting rid of this big exhaust and decat... Not really planning on removing the airpump etc.. What do you guys think?

You might find someone on here has some crappy exhaust bits laying around if your lucky :)

Kamatari

hopefully i might be :) the exhaust on the car does look big and it\'d be nice to get the pipe connected up...

from trying to analyse the running problem of the car, when the car is completely cold, whilst it still has a bit of a misfire, it runs alright and idles nicer, then after running it around and everything heating up it starts to have its issues, so pulling off or accerlating from low revs the car doesn\'t respond but you hear a lot of backfire (well rapid gunshots) and then a burst of power. So if the backfire etc is because of unburnt fuel hitting the hot exhaust then the engine must be either receiving too much fuel or isnt sparking right? so im thinking i should be looking at the spark plugs and injectors next right? are injectors easy to remove?

Does it have a Cat? Sounds like it could be a blocked cat, have you cleaned out the intake set up? Thats another things that could get clogged up a bit, carefull what you use though.

Kamatari

went to an exhaust garage yesterday as i was going to get them to weld the split air pipe to the cat but when we got it in the air you just see a massive exhast and the the decat placed so that it looks like it had a pipe for the split air to go on to but it was really just an exhaust hanger which hasnt been used and the other one is jammed into the chassis lol, im not going to rule out air leaks from the two flanges on the decat though...

for this car im thinking of just putting a stock exhaust on (or as close to even if its just the cat) Oh another thing is, that screamer pipe or whatever its called that runs along side the exhaust has been chopped off pretty much at the thermal chamber, does that make any difference?

Had one of those up for months and nobodies posted on it, you might be better off just getting an aftermarket system since waiting for a stock one seems to be fruitless!

Hmmm wasn\'t really planning on buying a new exhaust for the car lol I think after trying injectors and sparks that I might just look at swapping parts and get the other finished then I\'ve just got an idle bounce to sort, may hold on to the decat incase I remove the air pump and get new headers...

I need to remove my airpump I think mate, I\'m told it\'s a big step forward.

Kamatari

Trying this for the FOURTH time now lol

Ive heard mixed things about removing the air pump etc and whilst its something i will probably do, really should get the car working better first..

With how the cars running at the moment, the most annoying thing is reversing the car as when you give it a bit gas it just doesn\'t move and the revs drop to cut out and you just end up sounding like a nutter trying to move backwards slowly lol

Very much considering breaking this car up though but would there be much call for parts from it?

Do you have the back seats removed in there? Looks like the rear of an MX5. More pics please, what does it look like without seats ;)

Skifledanabit

Nah, that\'s just the rear backrest down, with the rear seats removed you have a mid level between the boot level and the floorpan where the amputee midgets bums would rest.

As i have two rx7\'s with issues currently.. which sounds easier to fix lol.... misfire under 2.5k rpm or a pulsing idle between 1k and 1.5k?

History of the misfire engine is that it has had a rebuild at 75k and is now at 103k

History of the pulsing idle is that the engine has about 95k on it...
