A daily driven car is not going to be running 500 BHP like your FC though Mitch, what you said about the daily driver is correct but at the moment I can\'t afford 2 cars. This is the biggest reason for my change of heart, out here the FC is perfect.... I have a merc Vito for everyday and the FC (when fixed) is for weekend driving. The truth is I\'ve hardly been able to use her due to lack of funds, with petrol, tax and insurance being even higher in the uk it\'s only going be used less (plus the fact it\'s sunny 1 day a month and that\'s probably a week day!)

Like I said when I get her fixed ill probably change my mind again. Probably...

Quote from: gsb876;801853Since we never actually joined the Euro why do we have to do as instructed by Brussels ???? :spank

For some obscure reason we decided to be in the Eurozone (still not sure why that even benefited us) but not adopt the Euro!

A good comment on Sky News this morning, we do not want to be part of a United States of Germany with a French poodle at their feet!

I think that says it all :Thumbsup! Maybe Hitler just went about it the wrong way and should have been a politician!

My engine will still have the stock 550cc injectors in, so the fuel economy around town won\'t change, it will change when you go onto boost though lol but due to the fact its a large turbo it won\'t just suddenly spool like my OEM one so will be off boost most of the time - my OEM one boosts up to 0.5 bar with any hint of me going near the throttle lol

Insurance - I am renewing mid january, fully declared with all the future mods like the turbo etc comes to around £500 fully comp :) would probably be less if I ring up a classic car insurance firm.

I never found it that cheap to be honest, but then when i come back i\'ll have the 5 years ncb. I\'ll see, but you can\'t avoid the fact that its not a practical daily driver and the fact that an evo will see better economy and the engine IS bulletproof. You certainly can\'t say that about a 13B.

Grant Monkhouse

It is bullet proof, it\'s mainly made out of cast iron, good luck trying to fire a bullet through that ;) :D

TBH Ben any 2 seated sports isn\'t practical, I can totally understand why you want a family sized car, but I will say this my neighbours GF got pregnant and made him get rid of the Evo because she couldn\'t get in and out of it due to the bucket seats, and taking 2 kids to do the shopping was a nightmare. Evo=practical, not really.

Have you found any Evo 3 at good prices? Compared to an RX8?

B.Martin

I\'d never get an RX-8 they\'re not fast enough for the fuel they consime. You can get an tax and tested evo II-III for £1000-£3000, i don\'t want a perfect one as i like to have a project. I\'ve got a long time yet anyway, still 4 months before i\'m coming home.

I am with you on the evo. All my rotary stuff is nearly gone. As I race I am looking at getting another rotary of some description as the annoyance factor at race meets is worth it alone. But the weather is nearly always against us so I am thinking of an evo 3 stripped out for racing, perspex windows, roll cage etc. With the evo I\'ve then got 4wd for the wet. Result. But then if a good 73 wankel came along then I would go for that.

RX8 consumes alot less fuel than an FC for better power.
We warranty our rebuilt engines for Detonation, track day\'s and RWYB and NOW for 30 months which is two and half years or 30,000 miles
We also build all types of race or road engines.
We build race and track cars too.
Any kind of porting undertaken.
Single turbo conversions.

Put a rotary on the 4wheel drive system in the Evo = HUGE WIN

Go in an rx8 with Clive. He will show you how fast they are.

B.Martin

I\'m just not keen on an RX-8 to be honest, the running costs are very high even compared with an Evo. They aren\'t turbocharged and i\'d chose an Evo over an RX8 any day simply due to the huge and comparitvly cheaper tuning potential.

Grant Monkhouse

Only thing I would do on an Evo is, after market ecu, upgrade ignition, water injection and loads of boost. Would be fast as hell

Will66

Evos use a lot more fuel than RX8s!  Last time I was on track with one, the guy was doing 5 mpg and going no faster than me!  I was doing 7 mpg, 40% better!
RX8 High Power, Cusco Coilovers, Dotz wheels and flames. Shoe Size 12

Apparently putting details of your car spec in your signature means the nice folks on exile-rotorsport think you\'re a fool.  I can think of no higher compliment!

Personally Mr Martin sir, i think you will find any well tuned car will be unreliable! A mate of mine has worked with Skylines for years and the stories i have heard him tell would make most rotary owners s**t their pants! £12k - £15k engines going pop on a regular basis. Fortunately or unfortunately rotaries just have a reputation, good as it keeps them off the chav rader, bad for 2nd values when we come to sell!

If as you say your budget stretches to £3k, whilst i was looking i saw rebuild fd\'s (from specialists) selling for around that figure, some still with warranty left!

Personally after 7 ownership, be it fc or fd, i think you would find an evo or scoob dull by comparison once the novelty wore off!

B.Martin

From extensive research i have come to believe that the Lancer engines are pretty damn good, its also worth noting i will very rarely using the evo on track and they\'re supposed to do mid to low 20 mpg even when driving hard. The real problem here as i mentioned is the practicality and the fact i wouln\'t want to drive the FC daily, thing is its a few months away before i\'m back in the uk so we\'ll see what happens then.
