Ah yes, only had 1 cup of coffee so far today, not really firing on all cylinders :rollin

I\'m basically going to try and forget about the A pillar for a while. I want to get the front end all sorted, engine back in and get the car back on 4 wheels. I\'ll leave the exterior paintwork and the interior to go in last and tackle the A pillar just before that.

I\'ll probably have a go at fixing it with the screen still in, and see how it goes, kinda go nothing to loose if the screen gets damaged.

Seems fair enough - is it possibly worth treating initially with the POR15 to see if this solves the issue or perhaps does it need more than that?

I poked a hole through the rusty patch of the A pillar with a screw driver pretty easily, so I\'d rather not just paint over it and forget about it!

I think you might have jinxed me too Cliff :rollin

No work for me today and I was up pretty early, so I got straight out in the sunshine and set to work. First up was to finish cleaning up the chassis. By about lunchtime I\'d got it all sorted.

Having done the major rust holes I found on the passengers side, I moved over to the smaller ones on the drivers side. I found a couple of spots in the inner arch area.

and a section of chassis rail needed doing too.

Then I studied the passengers side a bit move having removed the stone guard and years of dirt....

It\'s a bit like a sieve!

QuoteConsidering the condition at the rear of Rexanne I think you have done really well at the front - very limited corrosion.

Maybe not Cliff!

I think quite a substantial area of floor and inner sill will need replacing, whats not holed is paper thin. The good news is that the drivers side looks a million times better, so there are no more holes there.

The bad news is that to get the carpet out, so I didn\'t set fire to it working on the floor pan, I had to take the dash out. The one thing I couldn\'t be bothered with! :Hammer:Hammer:Hammer

Ah well. If I ever feel like replicating the feeling of sitting in the 7, I\'ve now got the entire interior in my bedroom! :rollin:rollin

***t mate - what a bummer! :Hammer Really feel for you on this but nevertheless look on the bright side of things - you\'ll know every inch of the car and it\'s problems or what\'s left of them.  I\'ve said it before already, by the time you will have finished this it SHALL be better than a new one.
I suppose this means the front screen will be coming out too?
Well you\'ve done the rear section in double quick time so I\'d say with your trusty friends and helpers you\'ll finish this for August/September?
If you ever think of selling - give me 1st option plse.:mmmm

The front screen will still come out at a later date further down the line :)

I\'m still aiming for June. With more day light and warmth, I\'m attacking the front rust much faster than the back. Once I\'ve got the front under body and engine bay painted I can start dropping small bits back in grabbing half an hour or two after work most days even, so things should ramp up a bit.

I\'m not sure you\'ll want it by the time I\'m finished mate :P Not sure my taste in colours and lack of interior matches yours :rollin

Stripped out interior.
You could always leave the dash out & fit an instruement binnacle instead, though you\'d have to buy gauges.

Door cards could be done in lookalike carbon fibre, that looks good!

Steve-A

I\'m thinking more cut down dash, flocked. :bandit

But whether thats now, or sometime after I get it on the road when I\'ve got some spare time is yet to be decided. :)

Just let me be the judge on that as and when the time ever comes but even so, I\'d still like 1st refusal Steve. :yes :Thumbs-up

Time for a bit of an update.

I\'ve grabbed an hour or two here and there throughout the last few days, if I\'m honest I\'ve not been enthused to be out welding and grinding when we\'ve had such lovely weather.

I started to cut back the rot around those few small holes in the passengers floor.....and kept cutting. I had to go quite a way to find metal!

Since then I\'ve put in the upper floor section and tacked in the lower floor section as seen here.

So need to seam that and tidy it up and rebuild the sill area.

Distracted by quieter more social things to do in the sun that weld, I had  play with my glitter paint I\'d picked up. We tried a few different base colours and decided gunmetal looked best, but I was still not happy with how glittery it was coming out, I think I need to try a different brand of glitter paint.

Finally I made good use of my s2 struts as a hose holder while filling a paddling pool :rollin

:rollin

I was kinda planning on not running the carb for long, so soon there will be no need for a box of any type, be it blue or sparkly grey :p

Steve - what happened there mate? :Hammer  All I\'ve done is taken a few days off and the whole world has turned upside down and you\'ve lost more of that bodywork! :flamed
Come on - knuckle down and get back to work - you\'ll have plenty of time to spare in a few weeks.  The more you do now will mean more play later on.

I\'ve been working when I\'ve been able to grab hours here and there between paid work! :p

I ran out of sheet metal tuesday, but picked up some more today and I\'m not working tomorrow so progress is likely. :)
