Yeh see what he says about turbo choice, he will probably ask for how much power you want so you need to sit and think about that, but he has said for full boost gt35(3.5k)gt40(4k) so he will probably agree.

just checked on ebay at that gt4088, its got a big a/r on the rear, so as long as your ports are good it should hold onto the power to quite high rpm.

check the inside size of the wastegate pipe for me aswell while your looking at that manifold cheers

Wastegate pipe I/D is 46.46 mm. O/D is 50 mm.
Manifold O/D is 55.98 mm. I/D bit hard to measure but it is roughly 52.04 mm I used a vernear to measure these. just trying to import some pictures from my iphone, may take me some time. as i havent done it before

Grant Monkhouse

Dont know how to get these images uploaded, it keeps failing. if you give me your email address i could probably send them that way?

turbotoaster

cool, the manifold piping is much larger than i thought to be honest, a spec recommend 2inch(50.8mm)I/D for using a t6 housing as it needs the flow, so it seems like these manifolds will flow fairly well :)

since i can get one for £100 ill get one and then modify the wastegate pipes where they join so its 60mm to join onto my wastegate, this will save me alot of money.

i think the saving i make is worth me going t4 housing but with a big a/r

my email is turbo-toaster@hotmail.co.uk, send them over and we can get them posted

well tonight i have been busy on my ebay elbow.

firstly i cut the smaller diameter off, i could have done it after the lip and it would have been simpler but hindsight is a wonderful thing!

after cutting the end off i used a dremel to enlarge it back out to the correct size, not sure neat but not to bad

i then used my grinding bits to take out all the bumps, casting marks and general crappyness, it still looks rough in the pictures but feels silky smooth.

this took me 2hrs to do in total and its not a fun job sitting in the kitchen working on it, got pins and needles in my hand now!

will send those pictures over now, if that doesnt work i will just send them off my iphone
I will be chopping off the wastegate part of the way down as i have been told by Carl to use a 60 mm wastegate.
Have changed my mind back about the turbo to getting the gt4094R as Carl really recommends this turbo, Will be paying a lot for it but at least i will be happy. LOL.
Have just got back from Carls, he has been out and done more work on the map of my car, We got there at 8.45 and he went straight to work on it.

a bb turbo is alot of money mate and if it goes wrong you are screwed, marky on fduk was running gt35r and it pooped its pants, so hes having to buy a completely new turbo.

If you have money to burn then ok, if you really think you want the 94mm compressor get a non bb turbo, its alot cheaper and if something goes wrong it can be repaired cheaply.

also since your running a much larger comp wheel compared to the turbine wheel get the biggest turbine housing to help against back pressure and EGTs

I dont have money to burn, (well not until i win the lotto that is!) but i wont be running huge amounts of boost, up to .9 bar so temperatures all round wont be as extreme, was marky runing a lot of boost? I have been told that the gt35 is a good turbo but to get bigger horses out of it you have to up the psi?
If i sound a bit arrogant here i dont mean to be, i dont know a lot about rotaries and the same about turbos, so have to ask and say stupid things so people push me in the right direction.

Grant Monkhouse

i have sent you an email with the pictures, let me know if they come through, if it doesnt work i will message them to you

i was discussing the 4094 with Mike ar Hayward rotary today and he said the outlet on the hotside is 3.5 " so i may end up going up to a 4" exhaust to reduce the back pressure, will end up louder and more  Â£Â£Â£\'s but will let the turbo do what it wants to do with less back pressure.

Asked Carl about where this turbo will be at full power and he said on a full bridge it will be at 3500-4000, and with my cars ports it will be 4000-4500 which is where i would want it. So you were spot on there bud, Cheers.

Size of turbine housing has a great effect on spool up time,so getting the balance is important.
GT35 cores are available so yuor friend should try that route over a whole turbo, and just becuase it has gone does not mean the turbo is no good,it might mean it was not installed right as ball bearing turbo\'s need to have careful measures taken with oil feed. We have alot of GT35\'s that have been working fine for years.
GT40/94 is my current fave! Especially on bridgeports!:Giggle

We warranty our rebuilt engines for Detonation, track day\'s and RWYB and NOW for 30 months which is two and half years or 30,000 miles
We also build all types of race or road engines.
We build race and track cars too.
Any kind of porting undertaken.
Single turbo conversions.

Hey Grant, full boost at around 4000rpm on your side ports with power building before that LOL!

Are you sure Carl? You had a huge smile on your face when you had steves car started up, Think that might be your favourite.

Thats what i meant, cheers for today carl. Put my foot down on the way back and the wheels span up in third, strange at 60 mph but it is funny. may have been oil on the road though

Hey got your pics, thanks for that, yeh ill happily get my dremel out again and grind that part down that you mentioned.

Ill probably cut the wastegate pipe off where they join together and have a 60mm pipe onto it as the wastegate i want is v-band anyway.

Mike is right on the downpipe, you will see benefits of running a 4inch over a 3inch:mmmm Let me know how much he wants for a 4inch exhaust as ill be looking for one aswell

Yes very true, i suppose it will also affect how much boost he is running, as he mentions he will only be running low boost so will probably only see that restriction if he was running big boost.

Cores are avaliable but they arnt cheap at all, you can get a bigger non-bb turbo for pretty much the same money.

Yes they do work and they work fine, not saying they are defective, but worse case scenerio something does happen then at least your not looking at a big outlay to fix it.

Will be good to see his car done, make sure you get a dyno graph up Grant!!

Grant Monkhouse

I think we will be building our own 4" exhaust with mandrel bends on it, have allready got some perforated sheet to build a back box.

This won\'t be happening any time soon due to my rx4 in need of being rebuilt before I spend cash on a tub, but if work carries on for the rest of the year and money keeps coming In I I\'ll get it asap

will get the car dyno\'d and 1/4 mile times of stock twins and then single tub

anyway back to what this thread is about, your 200 mph target, when do you think you car will be done?
