had a look at the gt4088 specs and a close one to that is the s466 with a t4 housing at £643 plus shipping.

I went of 6 different cars ed with streetports for my rpm figures, i know every setup is different but just trying to give the guy an estimation, i think really unless your after massive power then a gt42 is a very big turbo but im not really sure how much power he wants and how big powerband he wants.

Im happy having 5k-9k but he might not.

Oh yeh Ed did you get my pm on fduk, best ive found it abroad is $775

Grant Monkhouse

Im gonna use a t6 housing which is larger and cheaper(£406) but it means im gonna have to have someone make me a manifold as you cant get a premade one with a t6 flange on.

Saying that if i could get a ebay manifold braced up then id use a t4 version but the wastegate pipe isnt big enough for the wastegate i want[/quote]
The ebay manifolds look good, and for the the 125quid i paid for the one off ebay you cant go wrong, would it be easier and cheaper for you to take one of these manifolds, chop off the flange and wastegate pipe and have the correct pieces welded on?By doing this you could put your turbo into a better place for airflow and physically fitting it in there?

Grant Monkhouse

when i said my car was rubbish after 5000rpm with the intercooler pipe blown off, i meant that i was expecting the turbos to keep giving me that increased go forward.

there are 4088\'s on ebay in the uk for 600 quid delivered, i thought that was a reasonable price, but i asked for peoples opinions on these on this site and quite a few people said they were great and that is what they will be going for when they go single. This put me off a bit as i would like to have something different to everyone else, sounds stupid as everyones setup is different and goals are different, but that is the way i see things. LOL.

with the area i live in i dont get out 2nd gear too much due to speed bumps every ten metres!! and a speed camera in between each! when i get onto a clear patch i want to plant my foot and go like a rocket! :3gears-rh
An rpm range of 4k-8k would probably be where i want the power band.

Grant Monkhouse

with a bb turbo would i not get on full boost up to 1000rpm earlier? Thus giving me a wider power range?

oooo you have one, can you do me a favour and measure the size of the manifold pipe, ive tried looking around and couldnt find the size of it anywhere.

to be fair the amount of work that would be needing doing to it to meet my needs i dont think there would be much of the original left lol

the reason everyone is going for a gt4088 is because its a good turbo, does pretty much everything you could want, should be on full boost by about 4k which is what you want, easy to fix if it goes wrong, ok i know you want to be individual but no point turning down something perfect for you just because other people have it.

Id only look at other brands of turbos when you start looking more into it, i wouldnt go any larger than a 88mm compressor wheel

Its hard to judge when you havent got a power in mind, but going off your rpm range then id ay gt4088 is the size you want.

And at the price they are theres no point really looking elsewhere unless we speak to Ed about masterpower turbos, hes pretty good at getting them

with them id go for the T70 with the T4 0.96 divided rear housing, those are £415 plus shipping, ive emailed him about another turbo so when he responds ill ask him for you

no, you may gain a few hundred rpms, but for double the cost and also if it breaks you pretty much have to pay the price of a brand new turbo to get it fixed i dont think its worth it.

Grant Monkhouse

I will take a measurement of the pipe tonight, they are a very nice bit of kit, can\'t see why anyone would pay 800 for one, as if it broke you could buy a new one or just weld it up saving over 600 which could buy a turbo, only bit wrong with it is that the wastegate pipe hasn\'t been cut out properly bu will smooth the edge off with the die grinder.

turbotoaster

cool, actually take loads of pics of it if you can as it would good to see what it actually looks like in real life instead of the show photos etc

Grant Monkhouse

Inthink you have convinced me to have that 4088, for the same price as the bb turbo I can get the turbo and wastegate. May buy it soon. I am going down to Hayward Rotary in the morning as my car has developed a couple of gremlins and I don\'t want to make it worse by trying to fix it myself. Will see what he thinks about turbo choice again. He has a monstrous turbo on his office floor, gt45! That thing would suck people off of the pavement on a road car, it is huge!

turbotoaster

gt45s are monsters, good for drag cars or if you need a 900bhp rotary penis extension haha.

Yeh see what he says about turbo choice, he will probably ask for how much power you want so you need to sit and think about that, but he has said for full boost gt35(3.5k)gt40(4k) so he will probably agree.

just checked on ebay at that gt4088, its got a big a/r on the rear, so as long as your ports are good it should hold onto the power to quite high rpm.

check the inside size of the wastegate pipe for me aswell while your looking at that manifold cheers

Ed_RX7

you got it!!!!....you will have to get the correct flange with it buy the looks of things...but might be able to swap it out...but that tub has a specific turbine size ...so not sure.

The turbos that I found you can select your hotside once you commit to buy, Carl has said maybe an A/R of 1.06 would be good for my engine maybe down to a .9
Was discussing with carl about my rx4 which will have a 13b pp in it but in the future I would think of going to a full bridge 3rotor, single turbo and he replied with \'well with that gt45 you could get 600 hp easily\' in a car that only weighs a tonne that wold be devastating, talk about temptation for the future. Lol.

What size turbo has a 4 inch downpipe! Stolen off a boing 747 by any chance?

How much have you paid for your w/I? Seriously thinking about this as an extra safegaurd against det. Not map it to the car but add it afterthe car has been mapped.
