Quote from: kiwimazda;660878No work on 7s tonight as been busy prepping a rally car for a rally on 28th of Dec.
Over the last few weeks we have recommisioned an old Nova rally car with new belts, seats, extingushers and generaly given it a damn good clean up and check over. The customer is very pleased and hopefully it will give a trouble free run on its first rally in 10 years. We will see on the 28th:burnout

38th o/all and 9th in class. Co driver(me) very rusty and made a very bad call that saw us come out of the stage 1 lap early(oops) but due to the very very icy roads and lack of grip we got a stage max which was faster than our projected actual stage time. Pushed on very well for the rest of the day with no damage. The owner and driver is pleased with the prep work done and it has now been entrusted to me full time to prep and maintain the car for more rallies.:driving

Yeah really pleased. Also saw some very sexy bits as well that were bolted to another car. I wanted them very much but i could not have put the car in my pocket

Got busy pulling an engine to bits tonight. At some stage it has managed to get water in the sump. Its sooooooo cold out in the garage that the water in the sump had frozen:eek I could not believe it.

Finished pulling it apart tonight to find that the only things worth keeping are the irons and stationary gear. The rest is only good for the scrap bin. Ally housings are totally shagged so no resale value there.
On to the next one and see what joy of joy that brings

How hard can it be
I went out today and purchased a die grinder. Took it home hooked it up to the compressor and away I went. Got the template and transfered the pattern across and away I went. My compressor is a little bit small so I had to wait for it to catch up but I could see progress.I will take it to work this week and hook it up to big bertha and see what happens. If it all ends in failure I can always use the die grinder for stirring the tea

Continued on my quest to find good parts toaday and dissmantled another
12a. This one had the letter m and r5 ithink stamped on each side of the centre iron. The ports were coniderably smaller on the inside than std ones yet the same size on the outside where the inlet fanimold bolts up.
Any ideas what thats all about gents?

looks like a short-port motor. They\'re from the series 1 and 2 rx7s, and some of the others - IIRC they were also on the early twin dizzy 12a\'s. Limited on portability - ask Carl to see some other\'s attempts at going crazy on the ports
:burnout:WaveBye

The die grinder makes a fantastic tea stirrer,in fact I reckon my cuppa has 200@the wheels now.
But on another note I actually do have power now:cheers
