you\'re right there, it\'ll take plenty of enthusiasm and money to get that sorted.
Looks like a parts car to me too, sadly...

Oh dear, completely missed it by not working at my Register \'till midnight. Went to t\'club and had a few beers instead.:guinness How can I make up for this? (Need a self - flagellation emoticon here guys).

I\'m sure you\'re right fellow car twitchers; registration straight onto the scrappers list for this poor motor. In there I\'ve found it\'s brother, 10 numbers up, also a White S2, last seen at Brooklands meet, 2003. This other car distinguished by a black coach line on the wing top edge and consigned to the scrap pile merely by my thoughts..(advancing years)....must DVLA A959 to check it out.

Wooh... A959 lives; on SORN somewhere.  So it\'s an ill wind - - A949 takes its brother\'s place in the scrap pile and 959 leaps off the scrappers page back into the land of the living.

Oh David the ups and downs of a live register.................

Ian65

It goes to show how something that you\'d think to be a relatively simple task, keeping a register of known cars, is actually a difficult thing to keep on top of, with the status of live cars, sorns and scrap cars constantly changing.
Fair play to you David for sticking with it and keeping it as current as poss.

Thank you friends, but it\'s no effort if it\'s something you find interesting (which I do).

Very late series 3 project car on Ebay in Torbay

Cheers,

Since keeping a lookout for cars for this list, it\'s made me realise that the majority of 1st gen cars offered for sale are \'project cars\' requiring various degrees of restoration either to mot them or to get them into condition 1.
It\'s surprising really, given that these were quite a sought after car back in the day, that many of them seem to have ended up with unsympathetic owners which has led to their demise.
Even the car which I have just bought with 12mts mot is best described as a good condition 2 car and needs work to bring it back up to condition 1.
It also seems to show that the enthusiasts owning the very good 1st gens aren\'t moving them on very often.
Prices for the less than perfect cars have never been lower.
Surely these 1st gens must be one of the true bargains of the classic car world at the moment.

I think that\'s dead right. The few cars that look absolutely \'ace\' on the adverts (Silver Aberdeen S3,  Ex Mechanic\'s Light Blue S2, London, Light Blue S2 with snazzy wheels, Cork), are all been accompanied by the words \'No Offers\'. Then if they\'ve not sold they\'ve been pulled off the meerkat.

Dave Collins did exactly that with his beauty a couple of years back. And as we know he\'s still got it and enjoying it.

Thanks Stu and Ian (both again) for the Torbay and Lincoln cars.

Now up to 133No./40No./11No. respectively S3/S2 and S1. Running or SORN.

Good few admissions to the list over the last week or so - finding some SORN cars on DVLA that I thought were scrapped. This is the reverse of where I was up to a bit back...finding no record on DVLA of cars that I had assumed would still be alive. So a bit of sea sawing about until I\'ve trailed down to the last car on the the last list in the Dead Pool.

Hmmm, those wheels look like the ones off a 2.8 capri.[Yep i know these were fitted to Elfords!]
Shame if another parts car, as these are very rare.

I reckon you\'re right Stu,
70\'s Ford wheels used a 108mm pcd and the series 1 and 2 1st gens used a 110mm pcd. Although slightly different, the Ford wheels usually fit.
I can well imagine that Elford would just use a readily available of the shelf wheel such as the 2.8i pepperpot.
It was a good wheel in its day. Unfortunately, the passage of time hasn\'t helped them, many have become porous due to corrosion to the inner rim resulting in tyres very slowly losing pressure.
Many Capri enthusiasts ditch these wheels these days.

This car looks like it needs loads of tlc, get a load of the hole in the a post!
