In the elford catalogue (I would guess about 1982 - it has no date) the wheels are described as:

Part No: ETL006 Elford Sonic Wheels (set of 5) £220
(Wheels could be sprayed to match vehicle  at a cost of £25 per set)
Part No: ETL007 Elford Sonic Wheels fitted with Pirelli P6 Tyres (205x60x13) Exchange price £425

Out of interest at the time part number ETL001 was the complete Elford Conversion for £2,390.  Alternatively you could have just had the turbo for £1,250 + £150 installation.

Article from Performance Car October 1983 states that the rims are Wolfrace Sonic alloy wheels.

Article concluded:

Likes : Subtle power delivery, free revving rotary engine, excellent handling
Dislikes : Very little, steering is heavy at low speed, ventilation poor.

My first RX7 which I bought new in 81 had the Elford wheels on, and they had gold sprayed inserts. I had gone to Richard Knight cars to by a second hand one, and in their showroom they this Gen 1 Ser 1 sitting in the corner, the ser 2 having been on sale for a few months and this car remaining unsold, to jazz it up they had fitted the wheels and added a coach line, we worked out price if I remember £7750 and the rest is history.

We used to say of any car with the pepperpot wheels "it\'s got Beirut Dustbin Lids fitted\'\' as reference to all the shelling there when Terry Waite was captive. Sad or what.

Looks like another parts car, plenty of rot etc.... off road since June 2005

Cheers,
Ian
Thanks Ian, It\'s \'written down\' quite a bit in the ad though. There\'s honest and brutally honest and this car seems to have had the second treatment? That colour scheme is half good. Which half I\'m not saying.

If the cars as ropey as it looks, theres not really much else he can say!
1st gens hide their rot quite well so if the outer panels are rotten, I dread to think what the underside would be like.
At least the guy is being upfront and not trying to lead anyone up the garden path.
A shame, but some cars are just to rough to bother with.

That big hole in the A pillar, good for extra storage space.
It\'s an honest write up,no buyer can claim they were mislead,it\'s the sort of ad i would write.
It\'s not a genuine elford turbo as far as i can make out,i think the turbo & extra\'s have been fitted at a later date.

White S3 with wire wheels corblimey. And a split rear spoiler to boot, on\'t boot.
Best is it\'s on my doorstep and I\'ve never seen it. I\'d heard someone had a project 1st Gen in the vicinity... This must be it.
