Does anyone else still have melted rubber stuck to their tyres? The rears on mine arn\'t to bad now but the fronts are still covered, even aftre the 200 miles home.
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

Get your finger out, get it on the road and start driving it then!!! (B.Martin 25/2/12)

najiru

Yeah my fronts still have loads on and like you say on the rears its pretty much gone. Any chance you could put the vid of my \'moment\' up when you have a sec? ;)

shaunwil

Didn\'t even look :Giggle

Somebody did say that the chewing gum may not be your own tyre but worn off rubber off the racing line.

You know you have done well when they are like melted wellies :Giggle

First and foremost, many thanks to Malcolm for organising this for us all to enjoy,

Most of us met up and had a nice pleasant relaxed evening at the Beaumont hotel in Louth , a hotel which turned out to be clean comfortable and served excellently prepared food, but best of all Malcolm had found this nice little place at a cost considerably less that the cattle market Premier lodges and the like,

Dealing with the bad stuff first, I was sad to see Tony\'s (antnicuk) Rotary powered "Racing car" sidelined early on in only his second run with what I sincerely hope proves to be no more than electrical gremlins so we can all see Tony\'s hard work in the flesh, I watched him out on track and the car sounded awesome and it would have been interesting to see how the cars speed would have progressed through out the day.

Next up was Tiddles who fought water problems off and on all day and Najiru who sprung a water leak from a chafing intercooler hose, but worse of all was Overboost who arrived at the circuit and before he got on track his cars engine  blew a water seal big time after giving no previous signs at all resulting in the car being recovered away :o

Mind you it could have been worse as one, track only MX-5 totaled it by spinning backward into the barrier and then head first just to make sure it fitted nicely into a carrier bag to take it home, most importantly though after talking to the guys inside they were fine :Thumbs-up

Some of you know that yes I raced cars  back in the days of steam but this was my first "Track-day" and also I had never ever been to Cadwell and did look forward to experiencing such an undulating track, indeed one of the reasons this track was picked was because it was "technical" with no long straights and we figured this would give some parity between RX-7\'s and RX-8\'s, however what I didn\'t count on was that this would also considerably help the MX-5\'s, mind you most had fully sorted suspension and tyres and a lot were Super charged or Turbo charged with some running 300bhp which explained why they kept up with our cars!

As the day progressed it was great to see all of of you not only enjoying the day which ultimately is what it\'s all about but also all of you becoming progressively quicker as the day went on,

Overall it took me a lot of years to even consider a track day but I am now pleased that I fully know the limits of the RX-8, limits that I defy anyone to be able to find on the road and so track days are something I would encourage you all to at least consider if only one to enable you to be able to become much more at home with your RX, whatever model you may own,

Lastly many thanks to Ian (Hypothermia) for being service barge and camera man,

A little search around has revealed a you tube link from the day we were there however one of the best bits of the circuit has been left out which is the series of corners at the top of the circuit past the club house, corners that once a nice flow through them was sorted was very satisfying .

I went out with a guy in a stripped out porsche 944 with around 100bhp. He was quite local and knew the track quite really well. The lines and car control he had was amazing and I starting using his lines more through the flowing corners to try and get more pace.

Looking on the MoT site they are doing Oulton in November. Are we considering doing the same as this ?

I would definitely use that hotel again and would love to do Cadwell again :D

Absolutely gutted to hear the water seal let go on Jasons car. He rang me in the morning to ask me what was going on?!
Clive - any ideas on what happened? Ancillary failure leading to water seal? When you say the water seal failed big time, how dyou mean? possible cracked water seal groove casting?

Personaly never known a water seal fail this badly with no warning,

He had never put water in it previously or had the buzzer on , got to the track and had the low water buzzer come on and it would not restart,

Put water in  and I started it for 1 or 2 minutes on one rotor with white smoke out the exhaust,

Turned it off undid the cap and found huge pressure and no water, game over
All the best Clive
