On a different note !,

I know from when I was racing that you use an awful lot of fuel on track so how about this for RX-8 fuel economy,

When I got to the track I pulled the battery lead off and reset my ECU which reset the trip meter,

As we left the circuit I noticed  I had done 35 miles while on track which has equated to 5.8 miles to the gallon  http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fwww.smileycentral.com%252F%253Fpartner%253DZSzeb008%255FZSYYYYYYYYGB%2526i%253D36%252F36%255F1%255F75%2526feat%253Dprof/page.html" target="_blank">http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_1_75.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0">http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D36%252F36_1_75%2526uiv%253D3.0/image.gif">

Not sure how much fuel I used on track. Around 3/4 of a tank to a full tank though. But saying that I only used 2 full tanks all day including the 400 mile round trip. The fuel light came on just as I left the m6 to Kendal (about 8 miles from home)
I don\'t need to upgrade my stock turbo to beat your ass!

I do wish I had taken the bungs out of my exhaust though just for the flames!
I think I was in shock at how quiet my car was compared to what I thought.

Judging by the track volumes that I\'ve been looking it, I think you had the loudest exhaust by a long way :King

Warning - enigmatic statement ahead: Its a good job that you were all driving different coloured cars :Thumbs-up :Giggle

bloody hell :( thats pretty damn catastrophic. I know the buzzer did used to go off when u first started the car from cold, but i used to ignore it because it did it every single time and if u went to check the water level, itd be normal. The buzzer would go out after about 30seconds and then you could carry on as normal. I did 250 miles after and got home, let it cool down and water level was still perfect!!
If i were a betting man, id have money on a broken casting

Some of those hills look quite steep!

clive why do you have to disconnect the battery in the rx8 to reset the odometer? Is there not a button in the dash to do that?

The steepness doesn\'t really show through on the videos ! Definitely would do it again !

I just wired in a speed delimiter and just wanted to make sure the ECU was reset after performing the exercise but by disconnecting the battery naturally it reset the distance trip without pushing the button

Sounds like you had a great day guys. topped off with a nice long drive there and back for some of you. I am guessing that yellow 8 in the video is yours?

Quote from: Casey;620552What a absolutely fantastic day; the track, the people, the cars, the weather, and did I mention the track:Thumbs-up:InLove:Laugh:mmmm:yes lovely to drive, loads of challenges and set in an absolutely stunning setting.

A BIG thankyou to everyone who came along and made this a truely memorable and fun event. Everyone I spoke to on the day, whether RX8OC, MRC, MoT or just a driver in the pits were all so friendly. That followed through onto the track where I experienced near perfect etiquette re passing (sadly not always the case on trackdays!!).

Tony - a awesome car you have there :god, so sorry you had problems and had to "retire" so early in the day. I hope you get it fixed soon and I can see it in action, as I didn\'t see you on track! Enjoy Abbeville, allbeit if it\'s in the BMW:).

Very big thanks to Casey for organising the day and the weather and to MRC for the members subsidy.
Great day. Second time at Cadwell and not the last. I recon I did 38 laps at 9MPG !! After picking lumps of soft squigy rubber off of the rims, I haven\'t dared to look at the state of the R888s.
Pushed Rex in the garage and shut the door. LOL.

Overboost - sorry I didn\'t realise you were there until I spoke to Clive late in the day and he told you of your problems - gutted for you:(. I hope the enforced "accelerated" upgrade to the car is some compensation.

Clive, glad Lisa persuaded you that you should join us. Hope you will decide to come along to more!

Ian - HUGE thanks for coming along with the "support" vehicle (secure storage and specialist stylus towing car) and recording the day\'s events.

Shaun, Adrian, Martin, Neil and Matt. Lovely to meet you all too and experience the event alongside you. I hope I see you all at another one soon!

Big thanks to Casey for organising the day and the weather, and thanks to MRC for the members subsidy.

A little bit late in the day but a huge thank you to Casey for persuading me to have a go and everyone else for making this such an enjoyable day for my first proper track day experience!

Thanks Ian for the pictures, I thought I\'d send one to my parents in Italy but my dad\'s answer was that "at my age I should be sitting at home doing little crochet (uncinetto for BSE and Rei99) instead of doing track days" so perhaps it will just go on my wall of fame at home. :Giggle

Also a huge thanks to Shaun for "holding my hand" during my last stint around the circuit despite being tricked into it by Clive  hahahahahaha

I know I am repeating myself here but I really really loved that track. For me it was super challenging mostly psychologically because I had a couple of nasty accidents on similar roads in the past so to actually complete the first lap without needing my tissues or storming out of the car half way through was a huge accomplishment. the rest was just big smiles all the way. when are we going again??!!   :driving

And a warm hello goes to Michelle (and Greg): hopefully the next time we meet at a track day we\'ll get to do the girlie lap that Greg suggested. hope your one day event went well.

Finally I also wanted to say hello to Marta who I spoke to several times during the day whilst we were watching her husband go round the track in the blue MX5. I don\'t know what your forum names are so I hope you see this.

Oh yes, I haven\'t introduced myself yet: I am... err... Crissy, from the RX8OC forum. Those of you who have met me on Friday will have realised that I am clueless when it comes to all this stuff... as you talk about superchargers and ecu\'s I am thinking about Feng Shui for the car and whether my denim shirt goes well with the paint colour. But we seem to have some common ground in the fact that we all enjoyed the Cadwell Park experience.

Hope to see you all again soon!

Ciao,
Crissy
