Got myself a petrol generator now so i can at last use my air compressor and all the lovely tools i got on a trip to the US.  I can also do some spraying so looking forward to that. In fact having your address might be a good thing for you as worcester is my childhood kicking ground and most of my family live in Tenbury Wells so i can always pop by for a nosey and chat whenever i\'m passing.

Remembering a post on here about poly bushes, I rang Superflex today to ask what they did for the FC.  They dont do a full kit yet but they do a few.  They have said the website is not up to date so they will update the FC parts asap so will be good to see what they have for the fc guys (and gals :) )  It will probably be at least a week before they do but website is :

(must do an update for this too :))

Ok here are the sanded & painted components.  Look a lot better than what they where :

I have also given the left rear arch a flipping good seeing too!  Cleaned it all up, removed any rusty areas and given it a good weather seal - Looks 10x better (Have also started the process on the right rear too :)) :

I have started putting back the heat shields.  Its starting to make progress again on the front (although I havnt even started on the rear which I know will be worse!)

Decided that im going to paint all the brackets and aliminium pieces up because it will look mucho better.  A lot of the ali has a little bit of oxidation on so I can shot blast this off and paint it up in fresh satin :D (few pictures attached) Also I removed the front subframe and stripped the components off it.  Going to send this off with a couple of other items to get it shotblasted and powdercoated :mmmm

I have started putting bits back in the car now so need a few photos there.  I also have nearly all my parts for the engine rebuild (just gotta get me some new front and rear main seals!)

Ricco :)

Thats a really neat job you are doing there and its going to look really cool when its done.  I know just how much hard work goes into the finer details but they will most definately be worth it.  I\'ve even sourced as many newish nuts and bolts for the underneath and engine bay and they alone make all the difference.  We are on similar ground so be interesting to see both of ours together.  have you a finishing date? I\'m hoping mine B4 August but have a trip to Canada inbetween and i\'m a bit stuck without the car at the mo (replikit) certainly want to make it to Rotostock even if its on a trailer !!!

Thanks Pete :cool  Think yours will be super cool when it\'s done :chat

Yeah, you just get sucked in thinking well if your gonna do it then you may as well do it properly!  I have spent around £80 on marine grade stainless nuts and bolts, making sure there is a little grease on all the threads incase they need to come out etc.

Think you are a more efficient worker than me by a mile! :Laugh  Im just plodding on doing a bit here and there.  I have a day every while when I just go banzai but most days dont yeild much! :o  I would like to have it done sooner rather than later but im not kidding my self - it aint gonna be 2008! :Laugh

Mmm.. gonna be one tidy car when done! Glad theres people like you/us guys etc still willing to make these cars better for other people to experience. Seems a shame thinking about all the ones going to the scrapyards.

I almost dare not ask, but when is rotorstock again??

Sorted then - Target is August 2009! :rollin  Assume we will still be doing RS then :yes :guinness

Yeah, it\'s always a shame to see the cars being broken for spares but as long as we have a good handfull left then it\'s all good :Thumbs-up  I had considered a while ago to brake this car - I mean it was all boxed up so it was just a matter of wrapping & shipping.  Just that when you go over the old photos and see what you started with then you keep going! :guinness

Ricco_04

Ok time for another update, been playing again :chat

Been shotblasting a few items again :chat It\'s addictive (no really!) I mean when you spend so much time arsing around with sandpaper, flapwheels & wire wheels and all of a sudden try blasting - it\'s a godsend I tell you!

Anyway after many hours I ended up with these piles of brackets :

Cleaned all the rubbish off the outsides of the end plates & inside of the front cover (going to hopefully shotblast that alson with the UIM and LIM as the next job)

Few pictures of the front here (I have put a few more items in since like the abs)

I have just done the pre-assembly of the rotors and am about to assemble the block itself :

However I have a question.  I have mounted one of the plates on the engine stand and was just looking at the ports.  Now to begin with I want to do a completly standard rebuild of the car but looking at the rough casting on the ports I am wondering wether to grind them smooth as it seems a wasted opportunity to not spend a few hours tidying them up?

Now im not going to be increasing the size (I want to stay on stock ECU for the time being) but I was just wondering what affect (if any) this would have to the general running.  I know the flow will be increased ever so slightly but will I be safe on stock UK ecu (I recon so but I just want to ask :wave)

Heres what im on about.........

While on the subject, If I port matched the manifolds would I still be ok.  Again i\'m sure they would all be fine but just asking the question :)

pdtaylor18

even if you kept the sizes the same any smoothing of any of the fuel/air passages, be it the throttle housing, ports, even the wastegate and exhaust will improve flow either in or out.  Its not really going to upset anything by doing them and a standard ECU will cope just fine.  it would be a wasted opportunity not to enlarge the ports though, someone will let you know just how it will affect fuelling etc as I dont but its got to be worth while.

Thats a tricky question, mainly because there are Tuners who are Specialists in port work who say they can make a good stock port flow better than a bad Extended Port. But that said they do allot more than just smoothing a Runner out so its a guess how much the flow is improved or even hampered?? I would  do a bit of research into it rather then taking it for granted that a port job with the std Timing will still be ok?
