colin5524

Original and new, i personally like the new better

colin5524

I hope that I am not teaching you to suck eggs, but :-

I purchased a poly bush kit for FC TII and set about changing the lower swing arm one’s first. I drilled out the rubber from the old ones, pressed out the centre shaft and then the rest of the rubber just peeled out. Cleaned up the bore and outside of the arm ready to fit the new poly bushes. Spent the best part of 4 hrs trying to press the new bushes in, could only get one side in all the way and the other halfway. Gave up and went to bed. Spent another two hours the next day doing the same thing. Decided that the new bushes were crap and not the right size, ordered OEM ones from Mazda.
When the new bushes arrived I realised that they were mounted in metal cups with a flange on the outer side, both cups were still in the arm and hence the poly bushes would not go in. B----cks. Hammered out the metal cups cleaned up the arm and fitted all the OEM bushes inside an hour. ( The poly bushes had ridges in caused by trying to force them into the arm ) Scrapped them.

What Poly bushes did you use ?

I used the Energy suspension kit and needed to use a 3 Tonne press in work to remove the old bushes.

There new ones just simply pushed in :Thumbs-up

far better to press the bushes out, i did it the hard way and it was not worth the time and effort, most garages will press them in and out for a little cost to you.

You can also atach some threaded rod with nuts and washers and pull the out that way 2 if you dont have access to a press

colin5524
