Many Rex\'s in the Shetland Isles then?

Nice looking car. The wheels really suit and will look cool painted. Looks like you\'ve got a nice garage too and all the tools to do a good job. Good luck, and ENJOY :Thumbs-up

Always been a fan of the FB Rx7 and earlier Mazdas but the FC grows on me the more I look. Think its the toughest looking of the Rx7\'s.

Yip i agree they do look aggressive especially when there lowered a little, although i do love the fd\'s. Garage is almost finished i dont actually have any tiles on the roof yet.

colin5524

starting to fab up manifold for the gt43 turbo, welded 2 plates together with a v-butt weld ,used a piece of paper and my oily thumb to make a template from old manifol(old engineering trick)  i then centre punched around the shapes, this wil then be cut out with the plasma cutter and machined up on the mill.

What MIG welder r u using? Been looking into getting a low amp Clarke MIG welder for some bodywork I\'ll be doing. Need something with a good low end for thin sheet stuff, but would be good to be able to handle thicker material too.

colin5524

using stick and tig welding but any welder going to around 120-130amps

grinder

its nice to see someone doing their own stuff to the car

keep the pics coming :D

Manifold ready for pipe work now, rough cut holes then  welded up short bits of pipe, just needs cleaned up. Dont suppose anybody nows what clearance there is from side of engine to wing do they:Tongue1

ohh its getting close :3gears-rh

grinder

looking good - im confused at what that part is though - it says its the manifold for the GT43 - so where does the turbo go in relation to that part you have made - or am i missing the point somewhat ?

I assume the pipes will now be joined with a flange on the end :)
Brap Brap Brap Brap

colin5524

Yip oh its a garrett gt42 typo error!, this is the two outlets from the engine these two will be joined onto a flange which fits the turbo, there will also be a pipe coming of for the wastegate.

colin5524

So a little more progress made on the turbo front this was a little tricky as its a divided turbo so didnt have appropriate tools and had to manually shape the pipe which wasn\'t pretty but will do the job

Then weldde 2 pipes together after shaping them to fit the flange

Ready for welding
