Ok... this is the stage that I\'ve got to....

I have a Blitz twin induction kit but currently struggling to get it to fit!

Here\'s what it looks like with a stoc IC...

Now I think I might just be able to get them to fit in the bay with the SMIC.

But I think the only way would be to get rid of the air pump.

Also, is it possible to shorten this pipe (circled) by cutting it? The I could possible sit the other filter alot further back, roughly where the strut brace fits. (only if the airpump is gone)

So.... any suggestions... or any "how to remove the airpump" guides? Also, where would I get the required belt if I did remove it?

PS: I have a UK with a precat and no main cat, so can I remove the airpump

interloper393

use some dynamite to make room.. dunno if you cn remove the pump without removing all the cats from the exhaust.. cutting the pipe is ok, just the further up you go the hutter it gets cus the turbo`s are around there..

#2
Can I disconnect the air pump and then block off the pipe that goes to it from the induction kit? (The one on the top of the air pump). This assuming that I can get disconnect the air pump with me having a pre-cat and all.

Then all I have to do is reposition the second filter and connect it to the big pipe and the smaller one to the left of the UIM.

I know obviously they won\'t be sitting in ideal positions, but if I can get some cold air feeds, it won\'t be too bad.

Any advice greatfully received!!

One other question...

In the first pic below the filter there originally was a metal plate which covered the radiator hose. This had to be removed to allow the IC to fit.

Is this ok?

you prob don\'t need to remove the air pump. some suggestions;
1. a small k and n breather filter can go on the front of the air pump (it doesn\'t have to draw air from the intake)

2. shorten the pipe, its just a pipe, no big deal.

3. the two recirculating valves just dump air so again don\'t need to be connected to the intake.

4. the kit you have is quite bulky with the cast end bits, connect the filters directly to the pipes.

you are right to thnk about some cold air ducting, this is the big issue with alot of air filter arangements.

I\'ve got the same intercooler kit on my fd and found that you do need to remove the air pump as the longer intercooler pipe touches the air pump pulley. most vendors can supply a air pump removal kit which is two pulleys that are slightly larger than stock to increase contact area and a shorter belt.
using a smaller belt and standard pulleys can result in the belt slipping. i also bought a 25mm blanking plug which i fitted into the pipe that rum between the air pump and exhaust(although strangely mine has no cats yet it was still all connected????:-s )

as for the air filters it maybe just a case of fiddling around and even fitting th top to the bottom and vice-versa

Well I\'m getting a small breather filter to connect to the air pump so I don\'t need to worry about connecting that to the induction kit.

The chap who originally had this intercooler, did manage to fit the kit with the air pump still in place. It is quite close, but it looks like it should be ok.

Hi Jim,
I found some pics of the I.C. install on mine.  The way we got round the problem was to turn the top apexi filter body upside down.

Well I done it!!.... lol

Only thing I\'m not happy about is where the BOV is! (right in the middle of the pic).

It wouldn\'t fit where I used to have it because of where the filters are. I had to use some radiator hose to get it where it is. It\'s on a small bracket (upside down mind. lol), on a bolt next to the radiator cap thing.

The pipe had to be routed like that to stop it kinking and to avoid the belts/pulleys!

But hey! .... it\'s on!!... lol. Will try and re-rout it or get some silicone hose for it so it looks better.

Anyone know where to get little caps/bungs for the filter connections that aren\'t connected to anything? I\'ve just gaffered them up just now.

see that flange on the left intercooler pipe, thats were the bov cn go lol

As interloper said, that flange is made for the bov.

Jim_rx7

Yeah... but the HKS won\'t fit on that will it?

If I do connect it there, what do I do with the existing pipe (that it\'s currently connected to). It was connected to the filter with a stock bov (no longer have the stock bov..lol), would I just reconnect it the way it was, or would I just connect the pipe that the HKS is on back upto the filter?

Cheers

strange_days_uk

that flange is for greddy rs bov by the look of it

Jim_rx7

Looks similar to a blitz DD bov connection.

A mate is sending me a Blitz DD Bov to see if I can get it to fit. If not, I suppose I could get somewhere to weld on a different flange in place of the current one.

Get a Greddy elbow and mount the BOV at the elbow.
