Hi

My MOT tester is very RX7 friendly….Surely you can “adjust” “something” on the Apexi just to pass the test….

I wonder how expensive it would be to fit the cat back just for the test…

I have heard that people “punch” thru the ct and leave the casing on so it looks like there is a cat present, does that make sense?

Quote from: ScuttleRXI managed to pass without a cat on a 96, this was largely due to the fact they didnt have a 96 on records so they ran it with a 95 test :) I reckon computerisation may have scuppered this for me next time, still have my cat though, although ive heard these can go bad is they sit about not being used?

Easily passed the 95, i\'ll have to dig the emissions slip out, sure the co test was 0.something.

Shouldnt cost much I dont think, about an hours labour? could do it yourself if you had the time, although be much easier for them up on the ramp :)

Im thinking about going for the high flow cat option, just wish there werent so pricey :( would literally just be buying to pass the test, cant get better than a straight through pipe for performance :)

...I think that the high flow may rob you of some hp but I could be wrong.

I do want the free flow decat with silence thou, but I also want to pass the MOT.  I guess I will have to pay to fit the old cat for the tests - it maybe worth the money for that extra power and noise !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, yeah the noise and power increase is worth it I reckon. High flow is bound to rob a bit, depends how much though, think i\'ll stick with swapping every year and deal with the hassle.

What we need is a down pipe that branches off into 2, one to a cat and one to a mid-pipe, then have them join up again at cat back with a flap or something in the downpipe to switch between the 2! :)

Think you can do a version of this already actually, but a bit more extreme, has a switchover thing in the downpipe so you can either direct it through the exhaust system or have it venting straight out like a screamer pipe (very loud). Very tempting little mod for the drag strip, ive heard they can mess up though due to the high heat.

you will also have to run 2 maps on your PFC and be able to swich between them at will....VENDORS ?????????????????????????

When FC Tune comes out, all you\'d need is the box plus one of the tablet PCs (think thats what there called, sat nav sized ones, HP make a lot of them), then I think you\'d be able to switch between maps, sure they mentioned writing the software for Windows CE

I dont know if Datalogit has a Windows CE version, might be able to do it on that.

interesting.....very intersting, it may not last with the heat from the RX7..

it would be nice to get our vendors opinion on the subject at hand..

Not sure if you got this sorted, but try leaning it on idle on the hand controller. Go into the map trace and see what cell its idleing in. Then go into the injector map in settings and pull back the value in that cell.

Its probably at a value of about 120 at the moment if stock injectors. If they will let you tweak whilst the probe is up its zorst then, pull this value back until all OK. If you go too far it will start to sound lumpy. Don\'t ask me why but RX7\'s do seem to like idleling richer than most cars.

Optimum (stoich) is 14.7afr. Until I plugged a wideband in I was running 11, and now running 13. tried getting 14.7 but the idle just don\'t like it.

Hope this helps you, if not you anyone else reading this thread at a later date.

Even with an AFR of 13 I will probably still need both cats in place though.
