7% ???!!??!

Thats aweful high....very rich !

Are your spark plugs all fresh??

I think you may need to take a trip to see one of the rotary specialists for a diagnosis.

Plugs were changed approx 4k ago you reckon they are due for a change?

Red and Single

Might not hurt, also take her out for a GOOD 5 minute full throttle blast (Ahem, within speed limits obviously ;)) just before the retest and make sure everything is nice and hot....might help.

Cats dont work at low temperatures, give it a good cooking !!

with a cat on but no airpump it will still struggle
some of the newer metallic high flow cats are very good with one of these a pfc ecu u could lower the injection duty cycle enought for it to read below 3.5%
mine was running very rich at 7% idle
i think a lot of tuners only tune for power and dont bother with the low down idle portion of the map
u really need to put pfc ecu back on and get infor for lowering the duty cycle which will reset when u turn off and restart the car so no damage will be done

Mark C

Its a standard cat that has been put back on so it will have the airpump connected, at least thats how i understand it.

rx7veilside

standard cat with airpump and working lamda shd pass unless either lambda is shagged or cat is shagged..mot station shd be able to get lambda reading
is ur car a uk car or import

Mark C

Well i have been in touch with the garage and apparently the lambda sensor isn\'t switching, whatever that means, a new one is on order so fingers crossed that will fix it.

Its an import.

Have you tried cleaning the injectors, mine failed the last 2 years but passed once this is done. Also make sure you have taken the car out for a good blast before taking it for the test as this clears any build up out the system.

Take your car somewhere else!

I got at least 5 RX 7\'s MOTed in the last 2 yrs and none required an emmisions test... :Thumbs-up
TRex the Ecowarrior - Recycling exhaust gas and using it to create energy. Just doing my bit

you must have a very forgiving mot station ;) if the lamda sensor doesn\'t fix it then i might have to, question is where? i have been given the name and phone number of a rex friendly place but it is in reading which is quite a trip for an mot, if anyone has the name and addy / phone number of somewhere closer to northants please let me know as i might be needing it

Hi

I have a 96Bathurst imported from Japan, I am just about to decat my mid pipe, am I going to have problems passing MOT ? â€" you say that post 96 cars require cat ??

Regards,
Michaelb

Quote from: rx7veilsideafter 92 uk car requires cat and full test
up to 95 import requires basic 3.5% co test and no fast idle test
after 95 all cars imported require cat and full test

rx7veilside

a 96 car will need cat and airpump and lambda unless u have a understanding with the tester
if the rest is all standard get a hi flow cat and fit a pfc ecu this will enable the alteration to fuelling but try to stick to just getting a hi flow cat

adib

hi mark did you get car mot im in northants wellingborough i know a fair place i go to

I managed to pass without a cat on a 96, this was largely due to the fact they didnt have a 96 on records so they ran it with a 95 test :) I reckon computerisation may have scuppered this for me next time, still have my cat though, although ive heard these can go bad is they sit about not being used?

Easily passed the 95, i\'ll have to dig the emissions slip out, sure the co test was 0.something.
