Have posted this up on //www.gt4oc.net as well.
Just coming to that time of year and spent all of yesterday ringing insurance companies.
And sure enough, a couple of them gave me quotes underwritten by Highway Insurance! Thank God they weren\'t the cheapest quotes, though!

Good luck with the case!

If anyone has shares in Highway - as news begins to spread things could take a downward turn for them.

At the moment the pace is so so, but news leaks quickly so keep a watch on the tickers :

My underwriters are now a company called Jubilee, they seem to have some good policies and dont charge for basic mods either :D

If my mental arithmatic is right that makes an AVERAGE premium per customer of just over £400... seems quite high when you consider a fair chunk will be driving around in very basic cars; Must be the modified car community that bumps the average up....:bandit
FD or not FD? that is the question.

Still watching this with bated breath Blitz. It will be interesting to see how they try to wriggle out of this fiasco that they have brought on themselves. Well I guess they must take their example from our sucessive governments who in turn have been ripping us off for ages. It\'s good to see that someone is finally taking a stand and saying that enough\'s enough!! All these rip off merchants right from the top of the ladder need a damn good:flamed

I suspect you\'ll find that Highway are an insurer aimed at higher risk cars/drivers. I have only ever had highway quotes or policies as a young driver and/or with a higher group vehicle, never with a bog-standard car.

Hi, I am the head administrator for the Ssangyong owners club (Korean 4x4\'s for those who dont know) and one of our members posted about this on our forum. It is quite worrying since most 4x4\'s that are actually used offroad will have been modded in some way or another and would probably fall foul of the rules of this insurer.
Whilst I assume that a lot of mods made to RX\'s and most sports cars are to enhance performance most mods to 4x4\'s are to enhance safety for using them off road but would still be loaded by the insurance co\'s in the same way.
I hope that you are sucessful Blitzboy so that this thing doesnt become the norm for modded vehicles. I am sure that you can add all 2200 members of the Ssangyong owners club to the many others keenly awaiting the outcome of this travesty.

In which case getting a load of bad press on all of these performance oriented car forums and sites is doing them absolutely no favours at all. I strongly suspect that a certain Highway employee\'s holiday may get extended indefinitely :spank :spank
