Thats why Rotary OWNS Piston .. :Laugh

What amases me is the length Trappy is prepared to go to to prevent his precious Coop being shown for what it is.  I mean - the guy BLEW UP his engine to avoid defeat. Says it all really! :D

Only kidding Trapster - bad luck and hope you get something not too dull to replace it.

Sod that - 911 (996) GT2 with Ruf fettling.  Might take twice as long to save for but it\'ll be reliable and perform better than it has any right to!  Nobles are good but not in that league.  Or wait until the 997 GT2 is out and send it of for fettling.

Quote from: JapSceneUK.co.ukHa this guy is making me laugh...

When we were soley a Euro Performance orientated company a few years back , we looked closey into Fiat Coop\'s , spending alot of time involved in the Fiat Coupe Club.  But it was the ownership of our first RX7 (1995 Std RB) that changed our direction to Jap performance. Simple reason.. it outclassed what was on offer from the Coop, yep they may be good cars.. not bad for a FWD. At the end of the day we feel the RX7 outclasses the Coop simple ... the coop might produce compareable power compared to a std RX7 when modified even more if you spend alot..but it wont handle like and rx..it wont brake like an rx7. The coop was built for 220, not the 260-280 like the RX7 was.

And the Subaru... we may have owned 7 rx7s... but the scoob is also another great car.... again it will out class a Coop... for similar reasons.

And going back to the other RX7 commented posted on FCCUK , i owned that car... and mate you may say it your so called "pin me back in your seat" coop will beat it.. it wont!! That was our own personal rx7 before it was soldto a good friend in Holland..to be totaly blunt it WILL F*UCK ALL OVER A COUPE! so you might want to listen to the guys on there!

I think the only way you are going to prove us here is for one of us with similar matched power to show you how its done.. as how do you know the rx7 you raced was on full chat as you were?

Finally... is it sensible to be racing on the road tut tut :Tongue1

Sorry guys dont usualy rant... but this guy is dreaming!! Hes getting excited because he has beating so he tells us :Talking1  a std rx7 in his highly modified rx7...well played matey!

I\'m not sure if this guy can read. Seriously, WTF are you flappin\' on about? Ok from the top.
\'I\' bought \'my\' coop because it was a more practical proposition than an RX7. Plain and simple. If I could leave an RX7 outside my house at night, and afford 13mpg, it would be out there. The RX7 IS better round corners, as is a scooby, ANY scooby or Rex is. My MX5 is miles better on the twisty stuff than the coop. The rex will be faster in a straight line with similar expenditure on mods too, all jap motors will be I KNOW:mad: . My coop was a comprimse. Wedge that in ya skull somehow.

What\'s all this about the rex in holland. Someone said it would have about 320bhp. I then said i\'d be confident if i had 300bhp. What power does it have, post it ffs. ****ed if I know!! lol. I\'m just making an educated guess at the outcome. If you\'re gonna tell me it\'s got 360bhp then it\'s gonna win obviously.

I didn\'t race the RX7 from my original post ffs. How many times must i say it? A guy from our forum did. A guy with over 300bhp.
Since buying a coop I\'ve wanted to have a tear up with a decent healthy rex to get an idea of the difference. I like them and respect them.
I saw this guy\'s post and wondered if I could find out what power the guy in the fd was running for an idea of the difference between two sample cars. What is wrong with that? Really, why must it turn into a slagginbg match

I\'ve had one race with an RX7 and it was totally fccuked. An old punto GT was all over it. It didn\'t count in my book.

...and for the post about me vs the 360. I got a good second headstart as i said:confused:  From 15-70mph he caught me from a good length back and pulled 1.5 lengths, before hitting the brakes. He probably had another 20mph in that gear.
I\'m sure some of you pick every other word from a paragraph and re-align them

Back to IainT, I reckon a Porker GT2 is a bit of a never gonna own motor. A noble for around £20,000 in 3 years is about the best I can hope for ATM methinks...

Well said Trappy old chappy....Time to let sleeping dogs lie perhaps?...
FD or not FD? that is the question.

Wow, last i read this forum i remember it being full of friendly open minded car enthusiasts, seems to have changed a fair bit

I owned an FD for 3 years and a 2nd gen for a year before that, eventually selling my FD due to the need for something less costly to run, more reliable and a little bit more practical.

I spent a fair amount of money on my rex, and being burnt several times in the process, either by shoddy garages/mechanics, poor advice and general mechanical naivety.

So the time came to give up on what was my dream car from the age of 9 and look elsewhere for my road going thrills, the fiat coupe had me intrigued abit with its extrovert design, powerful engine and like the rx7, something of an acquired taste.

I now have a 1998 Ink Black 20vt, with a few mods, and shes running 254bhp fwhp on 1bar, 284bhp at 1.2.

Im surprised that a forum full of owners who used to intelligently discuss pwr and what power is possible to get out of it when an someone brings up an encounter with another car, now is just badge snobbery (ironic really, i dont think either of our marques can lay claim to anything much except dull boring cars 95% of the time) and witless idiots who actually are quite clueless when it comes to understanding whats under a cars bonnet.

Most people on FCCUK have a great admiration for RX7s, hence the obvious gratification of having a run in with one, but clearly this forum has become a willy waving exercise about "my car is best" etc.

Hate to break it to you but in the greater scheme of sports cars both the coupe and the rx7 are pretty low down on the "whos best" list.

Both cars are good in their own respects, and ironically after all the fiat jokes, after my experience, out of the 2,the rex is by far:
A:the worst built
B:extremely unreliable and in places very poorly designed
C:an extremely expensive car when it comes to mods/bhp per £

I miss my rex, but my coupe in its state of tune now, is such a vastly superior car in terms of performance to my rex that its hard to believe that my rex was was supposed to be the faster of the two cars.

Anyway, shame to see a forum full of car snobs where there was once an owners clube :)

You sound like a willy waver to me

gsb876

TBH Fly almost every car forum you go to will think their cars are the best thing ever its just the way it is and on MRC i guess its not different, as i said earlier if you have the funds it doesn\'t matter what car you started with you can make anything quick trust me.

My own reason for owning a rx7 3rd gen is that they are still fairly unrecognisable and its great to see peoples responses when they do see one, usually one of confusion and my personal taste for driving is to feel the road not be cushioned from it :Laugh :Laugh

Now the Coupe is not that unfamiliar and not that rare but if you love the way they feel nobodies opinion should matter but yours, the only reason this thread went abit ape was due mainly to Trappy\'s version of events even on the Fiat forum he was called a dreamer ??? :Snoring  But thats not to say Coupe\'s are bad or slow cars whatsoever.

Shame you think people are snobs on here but alas every forum IS the same their cars are the best ever .................... :King

Please don\'t let this one turn all hostile guys, as Gurj points out of course every single make forum believes they have the best cars, you only have look at the Citron 2CV forum to understand that:Thumbs-up .

Anyway enough of this frivolity, I\'m off to the McLaren F1 forum :rollin :rollin

Where? I\'m not known as a dreamer on there, trust me. Everything I say is fact.

Prof

thought I might get my 2 pennyworth in :

At the end of the day, it\'s probably more about driver than car.  I am no expert driver, but I do know my car, I know it\'s limits and I know where the power comes on.  I have twice had to double back and check if the driver behind is ok, because they have been chasing me and come off the road :(

It\'s a well known fact that if you have power and steering delivered through the same wheels, then you will have a limit on how much of that power you are making you can get down on the road.  Having 300BHP in a front wheel drive car is fine, in a straight line, but it\'s very possible to lose it in a bend - trust me I\'ve seen it happen.

At the end of the day, we should all try and appreciate the ingenuity and time that people put into their cars, and maybe have a little friendly competetion in the appropriate places - track, autocross, hill climb, drag - whaterver - just not a good idea to involve other motorists.

Personally I like the open top motoring - so I drive a vert - it\'s heavy but has enough power to see off 95% of the rep mobiles and would be\'s that I come across - and I\'m happy.  It\'s also my daily driver - it gets a regular service, and is as reliable as hell for a car that gets a good run twice every day and it\'s 16 years old - so don\'t knock rotarys - if maintained well, and not overstressed, these engines go on a lot longer than you might think. :Thumbs-up

And yes - petrol consumption stinks - but if I was worried by that I would buy a diesel - invest in a pipe and slippers and sit back with a sherry and take in the garden !!:)

So as has been suggested on the thread already - why not go along to a track day and see what you / your car can really do.  No one is going to laugh at you, belittle you or ride your butt if you don\'t win - just enjoy the day out. :bandit

Cheers,

Prof :cheers
