Hiya

mine are shot on the car - so been looking round for some new ones

mazdatrix has some for $40 - so thats not tooooooo bad i suppose

i was reading the write up about how to swap them and all i can say is ............. WTF !!!!!!!

do you really have to remove the rear calipers and all that stuff - or can you just unblot them from the underside and fit them that way ??

so the bushes need to be pressed in - or will they slide in with loads of copper grease ( or fairy liquid )

has any one done this on their FC and lived to tell the tale

any advice is greatly appreciated :D ( and the best way to do it - can you put the car on car ramps - or is it best to jack it up and remove the wheel ? )

again, i have just done this on mine along with all the bushes.    You will not be able to do this unless you remove the rear hub:

Remove or disconnect the following:

Wheel
calliper
disc
Shock
handbrake cable
abs wire
anti roll bar
bolt through the original DTSS
two monting bolts (top and bottom of hub)
centre half shaft bolt

Once you have hub off you need a press or a good stong wide vice to press the old one,  they are not easy to remove.  My Eliminators were easy to put back in.

Then put it all back and get the car 4 wheel aligned

i would rather do the bushes than all the welding you did on yours  last year......  just need some good sockets/spanners and a small plumbers blow torch for the ones that dont want to let go.  Its the easiest place to work on the car aswell.

hummmm OK that sound better to be honest :D

i have read a few write up and it seems a fiar old task

what about this

1 - remove the bolt from under the car
2 - rip out the insides of the bush
3 - fit DTSS things

that sounds simplier ????

LOL

you have to seprate the swinging arm from the Hub carrier to see the Bush so it will have to come off.

i have found them on ebay - they are $40 + $9 P&P - but it will take a while to get here

so it could be next month :( - not a cat in hells chance before RSIII

although pip did mention that i would run the 1/4 faster if it went in straight line ! LOL

Hmmm....I might have the same problem as my car drifts left eventhough the alignment numbers look good. How do you tell if your DTSS is shot? Anyone have any pictures?

Cheers

EDIT : actually just found this which clearly shows how to change it :

its easy to check ( now i know ! )

jack the rear of the car up

get you head under the back end - and you can see the bottom of the bolt from the under side ( if you look at the back lower of the disc - towards the front ) - its there - points to the floor

get someone to rock the wheel slightly - if you can see the bolt move - then the bush is shot

thats how pip demo\'d it to me ( although it was on a ramp at the time !! )

Hope this helps

is there no other way to remove them - drill them out - melt them out - shout and swear a lot at them ?
