Lol!  :cool

One day, maybe.  The project is very much to teach me more at the moment.  Just want to do a good as job as I can and then bring on the mods!  :cool

Oh well.  Got a bargain.  Went to Halfrauds to get some axle stands £33.98 for 4.  Will be the most I have spent on the car since I got it.  "ok sir thats £19.99"

Woo Hoo!!!!!!! She called me Sir!  :Hammer

Ricco_04

Been ages since I did any work on the car.  Removed only a couple of things - damm exhaust bolts must be welded on    even after I removed the skin off most of my knuckles  :2Mad

Anyway I was gonna remove this section as it \'looks\' as if it can come away in one piece.  Is this so?  I have removed 3 bolts but can\'t find anymore but the think is firmly stuck on!  Does this come away as one and if so what am I missing!

You can also see another good reason to get the whole of the bay removed - some of that caked on oil is really thick! lol

Thank you, Ricco.

grinder

what exahust bolts are you stuck with ??

mine were stuck solid where the down pipe meet the main exhaust - had to remove the whole system then drill them out

look for my decat thread - and you will see the pics :D

and no idea about the pic - looks like the power steering mount ?

Yeah, that comes away as one peice, 2 bolts and 2 studs with nuts IIRC, then you can get at the ac compressor.

I have just removed my engine, I had a little head scratching moment here as well. I am just trying to remember the issue I had, I think the a/c commpressor is also bolted to it, 4 bolts, I removed the pwr steering pump with the pipes all still connected just to make more space to see what was going on down there  and tied it to the inner wing, you will have to watch the hose that is bolted to the inner wing, remove the 3 bolts by the pulley, pulley just pulls off, and there is one bolt underneath pointing to the front of the car, then when trying to remove it you will find the high pressure hose from the a/c comp is stopping it, If you do not have any gas in the system take it off, I just tweeked it a little to make room as it is all gassed up. once all that is gone it is easy peasy.  my worse part was trying to get the wiring loom extracted as it was so brittal, I had to remove all the manifolds egr pipes etc.   good luck.

I\'ve just had a look for you,  If you want to leave the pwr steering pump on, take all the pipes off first then, take the four bolts from the compressor out which bolt into that housing, all the studs and bolts for that housing are behind the compressor, Just not sure what space you will have with the pwr steering pump still on, cannot take photos of that housing off the engine at the moment as my main PC has blown up. let us know how you get on..

Ah, cheers guys, I shall give it a go.  Thank you for the info and detail.  It should free up quite a bit of space and make me feel better as I really wanna get stuck in!  I already have a shopping list a half page long  :King

Grinder : Yes it is the downpipe AND all the others :rollin   I do want to remove the entire system anyway and replace with something about as restrictive as farting in a barn :spank

ha ha the exhaust is a nightmare - i have worked on two now - and its a pain - although i can get a full system off a car now in about 30 mins :D

Looks like im gonna buy your train fare and a beer to remove it then!  :Giggle

Was out with it about an hour ago - yeah, moved the frost to one side!  Got the trusty torque wrench on it and one of my new sockets (treated myself today to a shiny new 100 piece set  :) )  I\'ll just say that I ended up pulling my sholder muscles  :Grrr   :rollin

It would probably help if my arms wern\'t the size of tooth picks!

well at least your further than me!

i know exactly what you mean with the cold / not enough time. I have booked a couple of weeks off next month to do the job! i have got myself a compressor with the air tools so it makes snapping bolts easier when i take the  engines out! lol :)

little tip for ya now! i was lucky with my exhaust i removed the bolts by sticking a scaffolding pole on the end of the spanner and shouting "ave it!!!" and hey presto for once they came off with out snapping! ive never been so proud of myself lol.

grinder

remove the 3 at the turbo end - then just take the whole lot off - then drill out the studs and replace with nuts and bolts

SIMPLE :D

I never had any probs getting my down pipe off?  Yes they were tight, but not so tight that I had to snap anything, or replace the studs with new nuts and bolts.

BTW I can recommend the SSAUTOCHROME 3" system, I got one for £280 delivered :D

Im doing it slow but more important im enjoying it!  :)   The car seems to be saying ave it more to me at the moment!  :Giggle

I think the downpipe is in good order and the back boxes will have a short life left so best take it off in one go - now, where is that special tool, ah yes here\'s my chainsaw  :evillaugh

Bret :  Is that the downpipe, midpipe and back box???? £280 is a flippin brilliant price!  :cool

FD3SNuttah

yeh i bought the ss chrome cat back and its a good exhaust, you can buy a chrome standard twin tail pipe on ebay for 330- they didnt export the twin when me and brett ordered our ( i have the same sschrome) exhaust.

Brett

Yep, the whole shebang, Downpipe, Cat replacement pipe, mid pipe and back box.
