Hey ric - how much further have you got on project TII??

Hopefully once february is out of the way i\'ll have some more time to come and have a look and help you!

Might need some help with my turbo problem anyway!

Cheers bud  :wave

It\'s coming along - very slowly!  I am in no rush and being a complete amateur I would expect no less! :D  Gearbox, exhaust and engine will come out next time I brave the cold for long enough and then I can tidy up the bay nicely.

I read on here someone saying that these FC\'s are much easier to work on than the FD they said it took them around 3 hours to take the engine out of the FD and less that for the FC - makes me feel slower than a slug going up a vertical wall! :rollin

If I can be of any help then most deffinately bring her on down to Ricco\'s Autos!  ;)   I have more tools now!  :Thumbsup! but will take 3 hours to remove induction  :King

Engine is still in im afraid (im pretty useless at this)  Although I have removed all the aircon, the oil cooler, most of the oil cooler pipes, all the ducting, header tank, and most of the engine wiring loom.  which brings me to my question(s)

How does the engine wiring loom come away from around the oil filler neck (and under some of the nest)?

How does this piece come off?? :

I have undone the screw underneath, the 2 in the arch and the piece half way up popped out.  It slides left and right but wont seem to come away?

Grizzly

Unplug it from the ECU and pull the loom through the bulk head. Just be a little Gental with it so you don\'t damage anything.

If you undo the inner wing panel, there are 3 plastic trim clips that run along the line of the rubbing strip just under your T11 sticker, it may also have been glued on like mine was, you can pop the clips out from inside the wing if you are careful.   I think there is one further down as well, but you will see when you move the inner panel

Thanks for those chaps,  the wiring loom - so simple when you know how, im gonna have a go in the next few moments :)

The side trim, I was thinking they where the clip\'s that just popped out once it slid over a few mill, good job I didnt force that too!  :Hammer   I will have a go at the bodywork after,  I just want to remove the nose and front wings for now.

Thanks again  :wave

If you want a Tip getting the loom through, Get as much as you can out the way (usaly means unbolting the ABS and gentaly moving it with the pipes still atached, you can do this quite easly as long as you dont drag it about too much)  have a second person pulling the loom as you push it through the bulk head. Like any job on these cars do it gental and slowly!!! and make sure none of the plugs get stuck (or you\'ll damage wires)

theres another plug you cant see!!! DONT BE YANKING ON THIS WIRE BRO!!!! lol

its a yellow emission harness plug and doesnt go to the ecu its in the side of the footwell and you have to stick your hand up there and its a PITA to get off. i didnt bother unbolting the abs you can get it through there but only just!

that side moulding should come off with a good tug!

Ricco_04

Good job i\'m a lazy ass and still here  :rollin

Thanks again, this time I am going outside to do some work!!!  :Giggle

Ricco_04

I\'ll just keep this simple.  Would like to thank all of you for your help so far  :Thumbs-up  :Thumbs-up  :Thumbs-up

After your help again  :(

I cant for the life of me remove the pully nut, have tried several ways but the damm thing just wont budge.  I watched the rebuild dvd again just to see which way he tightens it and it is a normal thread.

Has anyone had problems with removing this bolt before?  I\'ts been in this stage for over a week now  :(

I have tried a breaker bar, impact driver and the thing has been soaked in oil for a few days too.  Any suggestions would be greatfully apreaciated.  :cool

I presume you mean the main Pulley Bolt in the end of the E-Shaft?

If so its Liquid locked so it will need to be warmed up if your struggling. If your Rebuilding it anyway it won\'t matter about the Ft oil seal as it will be replaced. So get as much heat as you can on it and it will come off real easy :) (If i remember correctly the Ft bolt is torqued up to less than the Flywheel nut)

Try to keep the heat on the Bolt its self and if you get it hot enough the Liquid lock will fail.

Ricco_04

Thanks for that.  :Thumbs-up

Yup, im going to be rebuilding it.  I did try using heat with one of the old boys blow torch\'s but the flame was that c**p i think it was just annoying the bolt!  :D
