I am not a gambling man Brett...   Won\'t say something without backing it..  ;)

The UK had 2 models of the 2nd Gen... 86-88 was the EGI - none turbo only!
 88-92 was a Turbo 2 - Turbo only.

Everywhere else in the world had both Turbo models throughout the 2 gen series from 1986 -1992.
These were called the Turbo 2\'s naturally.......

You want more proof...  Compressor(on here) had a 1986 2 Gen.. and guess what,,,,, it was badged a Turbo 2...  (this was not in the UK but was a normal right hand drive)

 I may be wrong, but was John\'s (88GTR) original car not also a series 4 - T2?

Shame this basic info is not on this Rotary forum....

Trex is kind of right, All Rx7 Turbo\'s where badged up Turbo 2\'s i\'m not 100% why, i\'m guessing its becouse its a Second gen?????? But i know where there is a Genuine 87 Turbo with Turbo 2 writen on it.

I know the US didn\'t have Turbo Verts. I know this becouse i enjoy winding them up about it. LOL

The scroll thing has nothing to do with it, The main Diffrences between S4 and S5 are the engines Comp is lower in the S4 but it has less meat around the dowl pins on the rear plate. Then of course theres the attempt to make it spool up quicker with the twin Scroll of the S4 which was binned in the S5 (that used a Divided manifold) the S4 also had one wastegate so it suffered from spike more then the S5 which had two wastegate\'s.

TRex

No, Trex is right...  :p

This is how I understand it is..
The 1st Gen had a Turbo model exculsive to Japland that was called Turbo.

So when the 2nd Gen came along with Turbo and Non.. The Turbo ones were then called Turbo 2.

 Simple really....

Discuss, cause I am going to quickly \'Win\' on another Thread and then go to bed.. nite nite.....  ;)

You obviously have not read anything that I posted...

Simple. the Turbo 2 models was the 2nd Gen and was manufactured from 1986 - 1992.

 Turbo 1 or 1st Turbo was a model in Japan that was a 1st Gen RX7.  \'not a 2nd Gen\'

So it\'s a good question then?!  :rollin

Brett

:D The origional FC Turbo was called a GTU (GTR?) and not a Turbo II, the Turbo II was not available until after 88, and there was no turbo model available over here until 89 IIRC.

 Discuss ;)

O man !!!!

Is this in the UK or from all the cars produced?

I had a good look at old sales info today and the only Second gen Turbo that didn\'t have Turbo 2 on it somwhere was the S4 Vert Turbo. I don\'t exactly know why but there you have it.

Trex is looking correct, the second gen turbo was the Turbo 2 the first gen Turbo (in Japan only) was the Turbo 1. Just goes a bit vauge at the Third gen.

Brett

I\'m going from the all cars perspective (FC type)
