They\'re not Honda seats, they\'re Recaro which happen to have been in a Honda :p
I personally love the EK9/DC2/DC5 seats.  I had some DC2 ones in my EK Civic and they hugged my ass like nobody\'s business.  Its something you\'ve got to try before you buy though.  SiH and I are both of slight frame and while they dont suite him, I\'d be happy sat in one until the day I died, lol.  I plan on a pair in my FD too ;)

...oh and if they\'re from an EP3, in my opinion, don\'t bother, they pale in comparison to proper the TypeR\'s recaros and look poo.

EDIT: Oh and the links posted by CarbonRX seem to relate to the Recaro SPG fixed buckets, not the Recaro Speed as fitted to the \'proper\' Honda R\'s.

3rd generation RX-7's / Import number plate?
April 15, 2011, 08:06:00 PM
To the letter of the law then no, an FD cannot use an import size plate because the vehicle does have european whole type approval, the very fact that there are official UK FD\'s means that strictly speaking, you have the ability to fit a UK size plate.  It doesnt just have to be in import, it has to be an import and that model of vehicle not have whole vehicle type approval to allow you to have an import size plate.  Basically there\'s been a UK version of the car, so owners have the ability to acquire parts to make it legal.  JDM only models, a Nissan Stagea for example, could quite easily plead the JDM plate argument.

However, and this is the big proviso here - your average... okay scrap that, most police officers I know wouldn\'t know number plate legislation when it comes to imports even half as well as they should.  I bet even most VOSA staff would have to check too.  MOT? It seems hard enough for them to know the manual for a standard UK car never mind and import, so I\'m pretty sure you\'d be fine.

I\'ve got a 5 character registration number, and have UK characters, with the plate cut to the smallest legal size as outlined on the DVLA plate.

What sort of condition are the sumps in mate? Got a picture?  Also - how much for postage of one to Crewe?

I see the logic that you\'re applying to being down on power, and therefore you feel mechanical grip may give you an advantage in other aspects, that\'s not my point. Simply put, logic would dictate to start with a basic sound, reliable car, do a season and is it progresses *then* decide if you need an extra 80mm of tyre width at each side at the back.... or just practice, practise, practise, know your car, know the tracks, and out drive the competition.
#10
Rob, I think the price is based on this (which TT posted on his thread PassionFord:
Quote from: turbotoaster;5278448the thing that sucks is the tyres(285 front/335 rear) i need cost £1400 for the set and i would imagine ill only get probably 2 rounds out of them if im lucky:grrr:

I can\'t honestly see why you think you need that massive tyre width, or extra track.  The FD is a superb car out of the box, and and some well chosen parts, mainly in the reliability department would make a competitive car.  The biggest factor in this venture as a TA car though - is going to be the driver.

If I was planning on doing TA, I\'d sort a good, reliable car and get in as much actual driving tuition and practice in as you can.  That will give you the best bet.

Quote from: Swanny_UK;188151...it looks like the pipes between the UIM and the Charge Control, and Charge Relief solenoids are cracked!
In fact both hoses to and from the charge control valve were cracked.  I\'ve replaced all three with samco vacuum hose, and its good as gold.  Only problem now its is wet and greasy on the roads - fortunately I was able to grow a pair long enough to test it was all working as it should.  Ballistic! :D

Thanks for all your help guys!

Someone on another forum has suggested that 0.4bar is just wastegate pressure - can anyone confirm this?  If so it might just be a pipe popped off in the rats nest...
#14
Gents - since an aborted attempt to replace my AST with a metal one, I\'m having a few boost issues.  The cars on stock twins, Apexi filters, Apexi ECU, decated exhaust.  I put everything back together and it wont boost past 0.4bar.  It pulls as rapidly as it did before, but as soon as it gets to 0.4bar you can feel the power tailing off.  I understand the second turbo wont spool up properly if the first hasnt.  Its feels like it\'s revving fine though.

I\'ve taken the boost pipework apart and put it back together again, checking for cracks and loose connections, but all seems to be fine.  I plan on doing the KOKO test from here after finding a few threads recommending it on here and RX7Club.com, but before I do, has anyone else experienced this on stock twins?

I just want to get it back and working again for the summer - I plan on taking it off the road and going single this winter!
#15
Gents,

I\'ve currently got a stock twins downpipe, 2.5" WGT centre section and a 3" Amemiya dolphin tail as my exhaust setup.  The car\'s running an Apexi Power FC ECU.  I\'ve got a 3" silenced dragon centre section ready to go on, but I was going to fit it when I took the car off the road this autumn for a few new bits.

My question is - as Ive got the stock downpipe (biggest restriction), do you think that swapping from the 2.5" to the 3" silenced centre section would have any detrimental effect and require tweaks to the ECU map?
