RX-7\'s at this end of the market are a complete lottery, take the mileage with a pinch of salt, many imported low price RX-7\'s are clocked, buy what you see,you may get lucky and drive it around for a while but more often than not it will need ££££\'s spending on the rebuild/turbos etc to get it running 100%.

Good luck....

Andy,

I would recommend you stick with the correct size tyres, you will run into nastys such as as execessive tyre movement on the rim during hard cornering and the car will feel out of sorts.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3\'s in a 235/45ZR17 front and a 255/40ZR17 rear are £362.80 all in delivered from Mytyres.co.uk

General Technical / 1st Track day

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but with a Nur spec back box you \'ve got no chance of passing Doningtons drive by noise regs.Does the car still have a standard cat?

Driven donny many times in an FD RX-7 and the only way I managed it was with a WGT silenced midpipe and a stock Mazda catback.

a sad day for me yesterday watching my baby driving off into the sunset, well rain actually:WaveBye

Without question,THE best performance car I\'ve ever driven and that includes a few!!Gone to a good home though and I\'m sure Andy will lavish as much care and attention on it as I did, good job you bought the van hey Andy for all those spares though:Giggle

Hopefully will be back soon though driving a very special Panspeed inspired time attack RX-7,watch this space:driving

Think those brakes will be more than upto the task!:)

I was running stock calipers with HT10 pads front/HP+ rear last time at Snetterton and they just were\'nt upto the job of braking lap after lap from 150mph on the Revett straight:eek:

3rd generation RX-7's / Track Day

Quote from: James BYes, a great circuit although a bit of a hike from London.

I agree i think it suits the FD very well ...... how did you get on with the bomb hole ......... fun eh what !

Although there are noise restrictions on days here they seemed totally relaxed on the day I did and there was a really noisy track specced cosworth there.

James

Snetterton\'s a fab circuit for a powerful RX-7 as it has the longest straight in the UK and you can get up into 5th and keep it welded!!Not many tracks in the UK where you can do that.You\'ll need a sorted set of brakes though!!

Along with the bomb hole and the tricky corum curve it\'s a great fast flowing track.Right up there with Donny as my fav circuit for an RX-7:Thumbs-up

A bone stock 380bhp M3 CSL fitted with sports tyres and a talented pilot did the \'Ring\' in 7:50 dead according to various BMW sites.

3rd generation RX-7's / 3 rotor conversion
May 21, 2006, 05:58:33 PM
Just count yourself lucky Pip and Dave are not charging you for all the man hours and bespoke engineering work for this job or you\'d be looking at a huge bill.I think Pip & Dave have been top banana for agreeing to help you out by sponsoring alot of the engineering work.Hope Pip does\'nt see this post as I guess he\'d be a little miffed about you complaining about timescales on the MRC. Due to WGT\'s sponsorship of the conversion and it\'s bespoke nature it will always take longer than forseen,don\'t forget their day to day commitents like common garden rebuilds and general servicing etc,so the 20B monster will be fitted in were possible.I\'m sure they\'ll get there in the end though and you\'ll be more than happy with the result.....!

Isn\'t RE- Amemiya\'s Asparadrink GT300 RX-7 a N/A 3-rotor? Must be a reason why they use the 3-rotor engine,torque,reliabilty etc...

Great write up Chris and a lovely car!!,I\'ve been through 6 backboxes in an effort to quieten my car down,I now have the Racing Beat dual tip exhaust.I was expecting a power loss compared to my Ganador GT titanuim backbox but the car recorded the same power figures at the THOR dyno day and a little more boost at the top end?

I was advised against ebay kits by Pip@WGT when I was doing some research when mine was being rebuilt.Ended up with a nice little second hand HKS t04e kit which was fully reconditioned by a turbo specialist.Great value for money and good power too, makes just over 400bhp@flywheel.

3rd generation RX-7's / Using FD\'s for drifting ?
April 24, 2006, 03:59:39 PM
I mainly use mine for trackdays but recently decided to try my hand at drifting.I did Drift Academys Level 1 course then a couple of practice days at Silverstone in my FD.

John Chambers and Rob who is also driving RotaryArts RX-7 I believe told me the FD is not an easy car to learn to drift in.After much fustration and practice though I got to a reasonable standard and pulled off some long 2nd gear drifts with a decent transition to the next drift.Huge fun and gives you alot more confidence to really \'drive\' your RX-7

Getting an MX5 to abuse now.. :Giggle

Was this car brought over as accident damaged and then repaired?Remember speaking to them a while back and they said they were restoring a late model RX-7?
