Hello chaps

Being in the 1st year of running my own business I have had vertually no time in the last 6 months to devote to the RX

(for which I paid hansomely to have it delivered in a \'ready to go\' condition. Oh well more fool me....:reallymad )

So, its getting there but  r e a l y  s l o w l y.

The clutch is still sinking to the floor if you leave your foot on the pedal for more than a second (there are no visible leak & the fluid level stays constant) , it stalls at low revs, and has a starting problem.

We have strong spark, we have fuel, we have compression.
It starts 1st time, then dies after 3 or 4 seconds.  It has run well before the Elford kit.

We also keep finding tiny amounts of water in the SU.  Im told this will stop it running.

Why this is happening is the question?

Water in the tank?  It was left outside for over a year in a stripped out condition.  Could the carb be buggered?
Well Ive already shelled out for 2 turbos, why not 1 more expensive bit!

Gonna pull off the fuel line, let it pump out, then refill.  See if this works.

Its a bugger - I just dont have the time to throw at it, but it looks SOOO pretty.

Any ideas?

Hi Don,
Your problems could be a few things.
There may be a leak on the inlet manifold causing the engine to be hard in starting and not idling. Also what is your compression figure?
Clutch is probably in need of a new cylinder kit.
You can buy an additive that you can put into the fuel tank that helps to disperse the water in fuel.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards
Carl

Thanks Carl

I guess I\'ll have to take the manifold off (again).  Got a blow in the ex manifold any way.

I\'ll ask for some gunk to put in the tank at my local spares place.

Ho hum, more grazed knuckles.... 3rd time lucky perhaps.

Dunno a comp figure, but the chuffing sounds even through the plug holes, & it fires right away.  Used to start really well before the elford kit.

Found it.

Drained the tank, airlined the fuel lines, took of the return line & it runs like a dream.

Weird.

Just got to change the cluthch MC, sort out the blowing ex & put shims in the struts.

Ta Da!:)
