As a few of you may know, i decided to rebuild my own engine, but also do a few mods on the way....  Below is a list.  It\'s all gone very well...until last night.  It was the big night for the first turn of the key....  Started first time...  Was happy, but it was running very rough, didn\'t touch the throttle as i was under the impression i did not need to as the apexi ecu was in learn mode, after about 4 minutes the engine stalled......  Now it won\'t restart, it tries and seems to be firing but just won\'t get going.  Had the plugs out and they look ok....  so any ideas please....

LIST OF MAIN ENGINE MODS
HKS T04
Full exhaust, cat pipe
Greddy FMIC
Apexi Power FC and Commander
1300CC secondary injectors
Uprated Fuel Pump

Cheers in advance.... Adz

Sounds like the fueling is all over the place. Have you had any error codes come up on the APexi?

does this mean you have an FD fuel pump to sell ??

but yeah it does sounds like it flooding - have you take the plugs out to see if they are OK ?

No, nothing beeped at me or flashed up on the commander....  But after checking all the ignition side of things i am starting to beleive it could be the fueling.  Is there anyway i can check via the commander if there is fule getting there...

Cheers

Sorry, must of replied at the same time.

1.  yes i have a standard fuel pump now for sale :)
2. taken the plugs out and only one of them had a slight bit of fuel on it, they were all brand new.  No...  i have got all 9\'s NGK\'s in there.....   i know your meant to have two 7\'s in the leading points....

Stupid question but u have the Power FC setup for the larger injectors yeah?

Ours stalled a few minutes in, we just followed the typical flooding procedure and it started again no problems the next morning. I think it needs to run for at least 10 minutes before it starts to run smoothly and then you will probably need to let it run for about 30mins to an hour to to allow it all to get upto to temp and wear in a little before switching off.

Good luck with it,

Paul:)

Not a stupid question :)   but yes i have....  spoke to pip about the settings, and he said to change the secondary injectors to 1303cc and change it to non twin turbo, other than that he said the base map should be fine for the run in period.  Thats all i have changed.  It doesn\'t sound flooded, or low compression, cause it nearly starting, not just turning over.

Yep sounds like flooding on an engine with good compression ;) Honestly mate that\'s exactly what happened to the one I did and it was nearly catching everytime, but not quite. I\'d suggest cleaning and blow torching the plugs (to warm them up), removing the egi relay or fuel pump relay or both and cranking it over, if it\'s flooded you\'ll get lots of misty fuel vapour being blown out, keep cranking til it has all disappeared, then try and start it again. Remember that non of the tips/seals will be seated correctly or worn to shape and all the rubbish that hasn\'t yet been burn\'t off inside, all this won\'t help. But stick with it and you\'ll get it started, it started once, so it should start again your main worry is over:D

Good luck,

Paul:)

Cheers paul......  Guess i\'ve just got to keep trying.  Wasn\'t sure what to expect on first start up...  Guess it will run rough till everything is out.

This will then lead to my next question then, the apexi is in learn mode straight away according to the instructions, but if the engine needs to run in a bit first, is there anyway i can re start the learning process of the power fc once the engine is running right.

You can re-initialise the power fc from the commander.  Initialize All Data from the etc. menu.  If you do it don\'t forget to reset the other values Pip told you about.

Thanks for that...

Just hope i can get her going now  :)

Try towing it to start it, saves alot of hassle. The car only runs on the primary injectors on idle. Check the compression that you are getting even pulses, put your hand down by the spark plug holes.
