Hello guys! I'm new here and I mainly signed up to learn more about the engine I bought a while ago.

The engine is a carburated 13B that came out of a 1975 rx3 (or was it rx5?)

Is there any difference between this engine and one from an rx7, except that it has no holes for injectors?

Hello Jeff and :welcome:

We never got the RX-5 over here or a 13B RX-3.

First 13B Europe/UK had was in the 1974 RX-4 Series 2.

Next appearance was the Series 4 1986 RX-7 "EGI" Non Turbo, then the Series 5 RX-7 Turbo 2, then the Series 6,7 and 8 in the RX-7FD3S from 1991-2002 , then lastly in the RX-8 from 2003 to 2012

All had different Rotors and porting inside

If you post some pictures we may be able to help identify the engine for you.

Hope this helps

:welcome: granne [neighbour] (if I read your tapatalk signature right).

I think Sweden got 13B-powered Rx-4s only. It could also be from an Rx-5. But this is 13B expert territory, not my home turf.
I can say, though, that the Rx7 (SA/FB) only came with the 13B for the last two model years (1984 and 1985) in the top model GSL-SE. And those engines came with EFI injection, not carbs.

Before you do anything if you can borrow an endoscope, take the thermo reactor off (exhaust manifold) an look up the exhaust ports to see what the condition of the inside of the rotor housings are in, because looking at the outside, if damp or water has got to the inside, sadly it may be junk.
You are looking for nice chrome like surfaces on the inside of the housings,

Thanks guys (tack Essentric ;))

Now I'm sure that the engine was taken out of a rx5. I saw the car, and the guy who sold it showed me a clip of the engine running not long before I bought it.

Will it still be the same as a rx4 engine?
How do the different engines differ?
And where do I buy parts in europe?

My plan was to take it apart. So the first thing I need is gaskets and o-rings. Can I buy a set of those for say an FC and make it work?

Parts for 13Bs are still readily available. Rx4 and Rx5 13B engines are more or less the same, but Mazda's research and development never rested, so there are many minor differences between model years and even within model years, not to speak of different export markets. But with 13Bs things are much more compatible. If your engine's chrome plating is not damaged or worn out, you'll get that engine running!
