Hi everyone looking for all your opinion on this clutch has done 1000km 500km break in it had a bad vibration at 2800rpm so I've removed it what do we all think the problem was ? I think the puck side has built up in the groved preasure plate and gouged out the pucks and burnt the plate !
Company that made it say it had contamination on the plate (I know I cleaned it before fitting )

Sorry to see this has happened.

To understand what we are looking, so have you tried 2 different centre plates against the same pressure plate, or is this the same plate with two different faces  ?
If so this is a crazy way of putting a friction surface on a plate, as they are so dissimilar one side is always going to grip more than the other!

Obviously I'm guessing you had free play on the actual release arm as I have known it where whilst there is free play on the pedal the arm has pressure against it from the slave end.

Years ago I had it the other way with the RX-4, the pedal felt OK but didn't disengage clean till the pedal was right down.
Turned out the slave was not pushing out far enough and needed adjusting.
As said, pedal free play felt fine.

With a sintered centre plate I would expect some marks through slippage when its taking up (I see this on the race car)

Because I cant see the other side, I'm also guessing the pressure plate fingers are sitting correctly ?

Also not sure you have put a straight edge across the pressure plate face but it looks like it actually warped through slippage which translated in heat and killed the clutch ?

If the arm was free, the pressure plate bolt up and sat correctly then the pressure plate clearly did not have enough clamping force.

One last thing, if you have have had vibration, it would be prudent to pull the rear stationary gear to check the bearing.

Here we go the steal back plate is a oem stamped out just painted purple from the marks on it !the pressure plate side has been changed by the manufacturer of the clutch to there groved plate and fingers ( they look ok)
If you look close at the plate side you can see that the machine marks are not worn evenly
The disc is made to have the flate side to flywheel and the puck side to preasure plate but if you also look close at the flat side you will see that the flat side has no backing

I wonder if the thickness of the disc and the rubbish quality of the disc and preasure plate are to blame

Its posable you only have a painted stock pressure plate which putting aside the strange centre plate explains your issues.

I remember years ago Exedy telling me they had stopped supplying a company in the US after a customer found the Exedy part number on the pressure plate and sent it to Exedy rather than the supplier as a complaint.

Exedy then uncovered that the company was selling their stock pressure plate as a Stage 1 & Stage 2 just painted in their colour!
