Hi all,

My name's Adam and I've recently purchased my first rotary  :13: :13: :13:
It's been sat in a friends yards for 3 or 4 years taunting me, I've finally got rid of enough other projects to justify this one. Much haggling later and it was delivered.

It's been sat for at least 4 years and prior to that hasn't seen an MOT since at least 1992. No other history exists because I love a challenge   ::)

It is / was Misty Blue, 1983 and an Elford Turbo (badges are in the boot)

An oil change, some fuel, water and a battery an it fired up and idled!

I don't really have much of a plan for it beyond make it run and MOT. See how she goes. Although the paint is buggered it's surprisingly rust and dent free other than some surface rust!

Here's some pictures after a quick scrub (my god was it grim)

Hello again, Adam,

Just a tip if you need to shrink your photos to fit, you can use https://picresize.com/ or a similar site. I usually go for size 800 (apparently that works well for smartphones) sometimes one size up from that. Well done for making this very special Mazda run and getting the dirt and moss off it!  :sign0098:

If your electrics are ok, the rest should be manageable. Looking forward to following the progress!
Do you have any more pics of that turbo engine? I'm really curious about how the 12A turbo was put together (as a former FB GSL owner) ;)

Power is nothing without control. Weight is enemy of performance, handling and braking.

New rotor cap on and arm cleaned up, rubber vacuum lines replaced. With the choke all the way out it starts and idles albeit a bit lumpy. Didn't run it for long as its now inside and I didn't want to die  :great:

There appears to be no Elford Microcontroller located on the car, or indeed evidence of wiring, but it does have this odd thing. I'm sure to a rotary expert its obviously XYZ but I can't figure out what the things circled in yellow are or what the thing circled in green does. It goes between the vacuum for the dizzy and the carb. Some sort of vacuum valve? The wheel on the end rotates seemingly forever.

Inhaled plenty of fumes getting mine started, so you did the right thing.  ;)
This is one for the BIG experts. Not part of the standard FB vacuum "rat's nest", probably Elford Turbo specific.

Do you have the SU Carb on the intake, if so check the "Dashpot" has clean light oil inside
